    Ive been trying to change my gamertag to one that is untaken (ive chacked many times) and rather rare. The new gamertag system wont let me change my gamertag to this without the # which i dont want. I even booted up my 360 to try to get around this to
    no avail. Is there any way to get the gamertag without the #?

    If you don't have an EA account it should prompt you to create one when starting the game, would this not work?

    The free month is only available during the process of creating a new account. You have to chose yes when it asks to join live. Every console allows up to three 1 month trials for three brand new accounts created on it.
