New Gamertag System Suffix Issues

I have an alternate account with a gamertag that I preferred over my main account gamertag so I gave my alt. account a new gamertag and then switched mine to my alt accounts original one. However, even though nobody else on xbox has that gamertag it made
me have a suffix (the four numbers) at the end of my gamertag?? When I try to put my alt. accounts gamertag back to the original though it doesn't put any suffix on it despite my main account having that gamertag. Any way I can remove this suffix/numbers?
They're very annoying especially when I was technically the original owner of the name just not on my main account.

Gamertags has been updated - all new players or those who wish to changed gamertags will now have a n auto generated suffix at the end of their new gamertags. Old gamertags that hasn't been changed are not affected.

Gamertags are not freed up immediately after you change them. So at the time you changed your 2nd account, the system may have still seen the original tag in the system.

Yeah, With the changes to how gamertag change works, we can actually claim used gamertags now but when we use that tag, a suffix will be added next to the account tag to make it unique and so that your friends will be able to differentiate you from
the one who got the tag before you. But take note that suffix would be blurry on your friend's end.

So by "registered" you mean that even if nobody currently has that gamertag and I use it, because I wasn't the first person to use it I have to have a suffix? If that's true then I wouldn't have even bothered changing my gamertag.
