New gamertag not showing in game.

I'm sick of trying to figure this out. nothing on the internet helps. microsoft support is trash. I changed my gamertag almost a year ago and it doesn't show in any game. only my old gamertag shows ingame. my new gamertag is only visible on my xbox account, but its right above my old one that never went away. whats the point in spending ten [mod removed] dollars to change my gamertag if it doesnt even show in game? please someone help. logging out and signing in does nothing.

It depends on the publisher of the game if they issue a patch to make their game compatible with the new Gamertag format.

Upcoming games or games that have been patched for the new Gamertag system should show the number less prominently.

Older games that have no concept of the new Gamertag system will always show the number "normally".

I recently changed my gamertag which is indicated in certain senarios but my old one still show on Xbox profile.

The lower image shows my new tag, upper old one. Any ideas?

A couple of years ago, Microsoft updated the gamertag system so people could use the same tags and use special characters in their tags. If you have special characters in your tag, your old gamertag remains on your account as your "classic" gamertag (that is the tag underneath your new tag). The "classic" tag can also show if you were given the option to change both when you changed your tag and only changed the new one. It can happen for a few reasons. The "classic" tag is used in areas that haven't been updated to work with the new syste. Which is why you still see it in games.
