    New Gamertag Issue


    So I checked ahead of time to see if the Gamertag I wanted was available on CheckGamertag.com | Check the Availability of an Xbox Live Gamertag!

    It said it was available. I went to check my Gamertag and it said it was already taken. So then I tried searching for the Gamertag, you know so you could see their stats. And it said that it couldn't find anyone by that name.

    So what's going on? Can someone help me with this?

    Unable to add son to xbox one

    I have this exact same issue, spent hours yesterday on chat support, it has now been escalated. I can create new gamertag's on the console but dont really want to lose my sons existing gamertag.

    New gamertag issue

    So my account that I had a GOLD membership on (expired now) but like a month or more ago I changed some options so it said that it wanted to have me log in to make sure all my new things kicked in but when I tried to sign in it said my account wasn't on
    that email was invalid but I KNOW it's the right email but no matter how many times I try it just gives me the same thing every time even when I tried to create a new password it said the same thing (invalid) The status code I got is 801540A4. If someone
    can help then that could be great.

    New Gamertag Issue

    Not every gamertag will have a publicly viewable Xbox profile. It could be old accounts from Zune, GFWL, or etc.

    The best way to check for a gamertag is to input one on the Xbox account signup page, or the change-gamertag page. Third party websites like "checkgamertag.com" don't have full (or even actual) access to the gamertag database.

    If it's not available, it's not available. You'll have to choose another name. Gamertags are only released if the owner has not logged into their Microsoft account in five years.

    To add to Internet Expert's post - the system doesn't recognize spaces in a gamertag as making it different. For example: , MistressSara, Mist Ress Sara are all the same as far as the system is concerned. Depending on how you spell the tag you're
    looking for that could be another reason the site says it's not available.

    When searchingfor.a.tag like mistress Sara said you have to.be specific but when trying to rename it has to be unique and then it sees the other versioms

    as Internet experts mentioned the only way to be sure offs tag being free is.to.try and Take the name

    Xbox gamertag

    It depends on the publisher of the game if they issue a patch to make their game compatible with the new Gamertag format.

    Upcoming games or games that have been patched for the new Gamertag system should show the number less prominently.

    Older games that have no concept of the new Gamertag system will always show the number "normally".
