New Forums

I'm starting to get used to them and finding where things are. They're not so bad. A lot of people including myself don't like change, but change is good sometimes.

 

I don't think it will seem like a ghost town due to how the new filtering system can show you threads from all over the forums in one place, if anything it will probably make it look more active.

I miss the gamercards because I wouldn't need to pay attention to peoples names because their gamecard was so distinctive, now it's like who are all these people?

I do think we really need a home base like the 'My Discussions' sections where I can easily track my favourite forums and threads without having to 'follow' and that's another thing, 'following' 'Trending' and 'Upvoting' just seem like things taken from
more popular websites, create your own identity Xbox! It seems like they're just trying to be trendy, I don't know, be leader not a follower I say (sheesh the puns weren't intended there, haha).

Anyway some positives are that we can post pictures which should make this place more fun, I think those that are throwing their arms up in protest, just give it some time. Overall I'm not impressed, but I wasn't with the previous iteration at first either.

 

It's nice that they've reintroduced basic functionality that other forums have but they've taken steps back too. Why on Earth when I've scrolled to the bottom of a thread is my only option to reply to it to quote the bottom user or scroll back up to the
top? Why not just have a reply box at the bottom and stop people having to delete a quote they didn't want to make.

Going into large multi-page threads is a nightmare, as you can't skip to the last page in the thread and the way the URLs now work, you can't do that manually either.

When I first came to this forum many years ago you could easily search for what section you wanted by using your browser's search function. You can't do that now as the full list doesn't load, making people scroll on to get the next part of the alphabet to
load.

This version of the forum simply is not fit for purpose at this time and I am stunned that Microsoft's web team thought that it was.

On the flip side it has meant that my ban has been wiped out, at least in the short term. So pleasure to say hello to you all again, however brief it may be.

 

I just popped in to see if anything has changed since two days ago...nope. The ability to add pics is nice. I'll check back in a month to check again, though it would appear the final nail has been put into the forums coffin...at least for me anyway.

Not the best to be honest.

My father had a major stroke at the beginning of the year. I let stress get the better of me and ended up having a breakdown, made me say and do many many stupid things. Then to cap it off my Mum died at the beginning of September, so I had the delightful
task of sorting the funeral out. Yes, not the best of times so sorry for the depressing feedback.

Hopefully I can stick around but in the end that isn't going to be up to me.

 

The makes this failure of these "forums" even funnier. MS should add in their Perma-ban statement "you are banned from the service till December, 31, 9999 or we switch forums".

Oh good times and epic fail on behalf of MS.

 

been trying to get use to it, but it's just not happening for me. I find it hard to believe that someone actually thought this was better.

I have become a casualty of this war and off to find a new place to fill the void.

What's with all the hate? lol. It's been a few days now and I feel like I'm used to it already. All of the forums that I want to be a part of are pinned to my home screen, easy peasy. Thinks are still being worked on and they will hopefully get better. There
are a lot of things still missing that will be implemented.

 

Its broken, its ugly, it doesnt function, its a mess. Look with this very Reply it won't bump this Thread to the top, a basic function of basic forum, that's why its hated. Its the worst and any Software Engineer who "worked" on it should feel ashamed.

I liked the original one better. Everything is clumped together in a sea of white and we cannot see our recent games at all. And when I click on the next page, it doesn't take me to the top of the new page, but takes me to the bottom.

The picture addition is nice, but I feel people will abuse that or overload the forums and make it slower.

And where are private messages now on the forums? Are they gone too?

Also, it won't even load on my phone anymore. Missing the original layout now...

@voteDC, I'm really sorry to hear of that news. My condolences. I've been there with my mother and while being grief striken is incredibly tough, hang in there because things do get better even when they seem like they won't. Make sure you lean on friends
