OP, you hate controllers? Luckily MS made this for all your 1am multimedia needs.

Gestures for the UI were ordinary.

    I have same feeling.

It is very stupid to remove the kinect gestures!

When I play kinect game , the wireless controller already sleeping, I need to waste some times to switch it on without kinect gestures .

Moving the screen to the side was my favorite gesture. It felt like I was slapping someone in the face.

I think only like 1% of everyone on XBL used it, that's why they removed it. Even I only used it once. Some people got weird relationship with their Xbox's. Wavy wavy. It's fun for games like Kinect Sports Rivals and Zoo Tycoon. But with this new Windows
10 UI on Xbox 1, one upside with it, is if you use your controller to navigate the dashboard pages, the UI is 2x faster and responsive than that previous Windows 8 hunk garbage UI which most people said was super slow at loading stuff, and not personal. All
of my friends who are 10 and up, and people who I've met on XBL, said they didn't like that Windows 8 UI on Xbox 1. They might add the feature back later though. You never know. I <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<33333333333333333333333 the new UI. It's actually making
me play on my Xbox 1 console more.

What I can't really understand is users that appreciated the gestures' drop from dashboard.

If you didn't use it, just continue so.

But, please, do not try to justify Microsoft for this decision.

    Because:

    1) Be respectful with other users that chose to buy Xbox because the gestures. They deserve respect because Microsoft presented the gestures on dashboard as a key feature (this is a documented fact). A lot of users were "convinced" by Microsoft to buy Xbox
even because the dashboard gestures. It is not up to you judging users did so. Microsoft sold a key feature, users bought it, Microsoft drop it. This is not fair: not to argue so much about this.

    2) Users complaining the gestures didn't work is the same as someone who complains because he bought a fishing pole and he didn't catch any fish. You need some training (by yourself and let me say... a bunch of minutes for a week) to learn how to move your
hand the right way. Once you learnt I can tell you are faster than joypad. It's like mouse versus joypad while browsing a menu game on PC.

    3) If you are happy because you got more responsive UI by dropping the gestures, you would have got the same with a simple switch on / off option in the settings. Resources are dynamically allocated - once you switch off a features the system works as the
feature is not existing. This solution would have been good for all the users. If resources was actually an issue, switching "on" the feature could alert something like "when this is on, UI may be less responsive". Nothing to be shocked: even on my phone if
I activated LTA network it alerts me the battery will drain faster...

Anyway, if you are still asking why users bought xbox just for gestures, there are 100 (and still counting) comments on this topic: just search "gestures dashboard" at
    Xbox Ideas, powered by UserVoice

I suggest users who wants the gestures back to vote for this on the xbox.uservoice.com

I disagree with any comment that is 'oh since I didn't use it, it's not worth investing in'. What Microsoft is doing is taking away choice, a choice they are forcing their customers to make, because they couldn't build a proper console. I'm extremely disappointed
in MS because of this, Xbox is being ran by fan boys.

Do you know how much the technical world has benefited because of the Kinect and the technology it uses? Alot and it's not all game related.

it doesn't make sense to support a feature that is being used by almost nobody, it's like a Sushi restaurant ordering Uni every week for 1 customer that orders it once every 6 months, makes no sense.

if you don't like, get on the feedback site and make a post to rally the troops.

Really glad I found this thread. I have been trying since yesterday (when I hooked up my Kinect sensor) to get hand gestures to work. Wow do I now feel stupid. Imagine me sitting in my living room flailing my arms around trying to get my machine to "work"
with me. Not much documentation out there that this feature was discontinued. I still love my Xbox One though! My first new system since I bought my Wii (yes, you can start laughing now) almost 9 years ago. Welcome to new age gaming!
