New downloaded original Xbox games not launching on Xbox 360

I recently purchased a number of the newly backwards compatible original Xbox games - specifically Star Wars Battlefront 2, Star Wars Republic Commando, Sid Meier's Pirates and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. The games work great on my Xbox One.

However, on my Xbox 360S, they download, install....but as soon as you launch them, the screen goes black, and a box that says 'Game Error, Try downloading the game again' appears.

I've downloaded the games three times. No change.

Contacted support - we've tried clearing the cache and redownloading. No change. We've tried pushing the downloads from an internet link instead of from the 360 itself....still won't launch.

I know I have a third party, 'not official Microsoft' hard drive in the unit and I've mentioned this to support several times but they don't seem to think that's the problem. All other games work fine,downloaded, on disc, doesn't matter they all work. It's
only backwards compatible which is why I'm still thinking it has to do with the emulation software not being present on the hard drive.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Downloaded games on Original Xbox 360

Dear Concern,

I have just purchased XBOX 360 - 250GB, would like to know if I download games from internet/torrentz on XBOX 360 hard disk or download in my computer then copied to XBOX 360, would that game will work in my XBOX 360 which is not modified.

Please advise or let me know if my query is not clear.

The short answre is: NO!!!!!

the long is only modified 360 can do that, and if you do that you will be banned (because you have violated the MS terms of services, you can´t modified your console in your hardware and sotware (the people ofer that uses a modification, that modification
make the 360 operate in other network, not XBL)

If don´t want headcheackes, make a favor for yourself and DON´T MODIFIED YOUR 360, you can uses the live promotions (and in the lasts months we have promotions in the level of steam!!!)and uses a network more stable and security

If you want go to a network came literaly of non where, whif no segurity, and a simple update can transform in nightmare.

PS: The "Complete" games exists in torrents, only works in modified 360, some for dics some for a modified OS, in both cases you will "buy" a problem for you, because i repeat my self again, A SIMPLE UPDATE CAN BLOCK ALL YOUR GAMES AND IN MOST OF CASES YOU
CAN BE BANNED FROM LIVE!!!WHIF A PLUS!!!YOU WILL LOST THE WARRANTY!!!

 

Its the hard drive. Third party dives tend to be knock offs which do not have the system files required for backwards compatibiliy. That's why an official hard drive is required for backwards compatibility to work on a 360. You'd need a new hard drive.

 

Thanks Smwutches. I'm positive you're right although the Microsoft support chat folks kept insisting no, the games should work with any unit. I've been checking out a few Youtube videos from back in the day about the hard drive partition with the emulation
software and when a user with a knock off drive tries to start a BC Xbox game the exact error that I get shows up....so yeah, it's gotta be the drive. Ding dang. Which of course you can't get new anymore so....I guess I gotta get one off Ebay and hope when
it says official, genuine Microsoft - that somebody somewhere along the line didn't just switch the hard drive case. Crossing my fingers.

If the CHAT support folks happen to look in here....got a genuine Microsoft drive and everything works great now....all those downloaded Xbox games play perfectly and still had some discs from back in the day for like D&D Heroes....plays great. So this problem WAS TOTALLY
that - like Smwutches said. You definitely need the official Microsoft hard drive which has the emulation software on partition 2 for the original Xbox games to play.
