  1. New Disk Drive Installation

I have an original Xbox 360 with a broken DVD drive. I want to just order a new disk drive, instead of buying a new console, but I want to know if I will get banned for doing so.

    :)

Why Do You Have To Install The Game If You Have The Disc?

Installing the game to the hard drive is faster.

After that, the presence of the disk in the drive is largely just to make sure your game is actually in your possession.

    Aaaargh not again!

Install the game on the hard drive and it shouldn't give you too much problem as it only checks the disk in the drive at start up.

Hi, discussion of self repair isn't allowed on the forums. Any unofficial repairs can lead to a console ban though.

Self repair isn't allowed to be discussed. However, you're not left with a useless brick. I would sell it for parts if I were you and use that money to get another console. That being said, if your DVD drive stopped working after a console update, you can
contact Microsoft for a replacement. Both of my phat consoles were essentially bricked after the system update, saying 'Play DVD' instead of letting me play the game. This was the update's fault--it wrote the incorrect firmware to the DVD drive, essentially
bricking it. Microsoft repaired both of my consoles, despite neither of them having warranty, at no cost to me. This was a few years back though.

  6. Irixion, please note that the OP is discussing an original xbox 360 ( which I take to mean a "fat" 360) which are no longer being repaired or serviced at all by Microsoft. This is as of June 1st I believe.

I also wanted to mention that suggesting to sell the console for parts would also be considered part of the self-repair category and as such is also not allowed.

    Issues installing Watch Dogs 2

Hi, I have tried all of these solutions and it has not remedied the issue. I think it is most likely the disk that is at fault. However, I am not sure as I had a hard drive that had the game on it and the disk was working flawlessly then, that hard drive failed and I got a new hard drive recently and tried to install the game and it failed to install as I described earlier.
