New disc, can't play until it updates (17gb update).

I must say I'm frustrated with the update system for Live. I buy a game and install it to the HDD I get it, games run faster on the HDD than reading from disc. But I can't play even after it installs, BECAUSE I HAVE TO DOWNLOAD A 17GB UPDATE!!! Why can't
they employ updates like other software, allow me to use the content that was installed on the disc and then download the update onto the disc in the background. When the update has completely finished downloading, THEN stop the game and install it. Seriously,
its frustrating! I'm currently in Kuwait and the download speed is barely in the triple digit KB speed so I have to wait DAYS or even up to a WEEK to play a game I purchased! Why is it this way? The game I'm trying to play is Destiny. It installed, and is
now downloading the update. At 10% it says I can play! Yay right!? No... Game starts running, "please wait, downloading update". RAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

Sometimes games are not fully finished when they are being burned on a disc due too time restrictions with getting the disc out on release. The update can still include critical game files and bug fixes which are necessary to start the game.

Well, that point is good and all buuuut, the game has been out of over a year.... There's another argument: "what if the game is too big to fit on one disc?" TWO DISCS! Hell Shenmu for Dreamcast had 4 or 5 discs, so I don't see the problem with multiple
discs.

Everyone understands your disappointment and frustration. Your suggestions may be viable for future games, however, that doesn't eliminate the fact that you have to download the update for the game you are installing now. Unfortunately, there is nothing
here that can be done about the situation you are experiencing.

Destiny is a multiplayer game that can only be played online and recieves regular updates. It would be impossible to run that game from disc while the update is installing anyway because it is online only and a non updated version will be completely incompatible
with the servers.

Also if your internet is as slow as you say then you should probably have chose a different game that isn't online only and updated regularly.

I never really played much of it until the new update but nowbi can't but it down!
