New Controller Headset Quiet/ No Audio/Sound

I have two old Xbox controllers w/ 3.5mm jacks (One Halo 5 edition, one S). When I have a headset plugged in to them, audio is normal, I can hear loud and clear. I recently bought a new S controller but when I plug the same headset in, a headset is recognized,
but there's no volume coming through (there's technically audio, but it's so quiet you can only and just barely hear it with the in line sound turned all the way up and the room you're in completely silent).

I tried power cycling my console, turning off and on the controller, checking for controller updates (but there are none available, same firmware version as the old controllers), connecting the controller to the console via USB, checking with no other controller
on and then with all three on, switching out the batteries, and re-syncing the controller. Nothing worked so I figured it was a fault controller and ordered a replacement. The new controller showed up and I have the exact same issue with it. All of my older
controllers are fine but any new ones I get are having audio issues. I'm in the Xbox Insider program but this seems like an odd issue and still, I'm looking for a solution.

Turning the Volume up in the guide settings doesn't help much and that solution would be inconvenient since I'd have to readjust the volume every time I use a swap controller.

    :)

X12 Headset - Super Quiet Voice?

Turtle Beach X12 headset is super quiet for some reason. They can hear me fine but other people are quiet. Voice chat volume on the xbox and on the headset is turned all the way up. The USB/audio cables are plugged in, as is the one going to the controller
and the game sound is fine.

    What would cause this?

new XB1 controller on PC - no audio

    hello folks,

I've got quite a difficult one that I can't seem to solve:

    - have new Xbox One controller with integrated headphone jack (3.5mm)

    - have new Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10

    - have Microsoft Xbox Stereo Headet

    - have Microsoft Stereo Headset adapter

Running Windows 10 (all available updates installed, build 1511 - november update).

Controller firmware updated as of November 28th.

I connect the wireless adapter to USB, power on the new controller and pair successfully. The controller works with games, all buttons working, very little lag. So far so good. When I connect the stereo headset to the controller, my windows volume control
shows "Headphones (USB Audio Device)" but I can't hear anything. I thought maybe it doesn't work wirelessly, so I unplugged the wireless adapter and connected my new controller via USB. The same thing happens, no sound.

I unplugged my headset from the new controller, I plugged in the stereo headset adapter into the new controller, I plugged in my headset into the adapter. In Windows sound settings, I see "Headphones (USB Audio Device) - 2" but now the sound works! So I
unplug the controller from USB and pair it again with my Windows 10 Wireless adapter. The audio works, as long as the headset adapter is connected to the controller. The built-in headphone jack on the new controller doesn't produce sound.

I checked the forums before posting and others are stating they are having issues but they can get the sound to work. Any suggestions?

New Controller Headset Quiet/ No Audio/Sound

Haha I'm an idiot. So apparently the Xbox saves the settings of each controller individually, and every time I turned up the volume on the new one, I set it back to normal thinking that would carry over to the others. But they were all at max volume and
    I never bothered to check.

Solution: I turned up the volume in the guide settings.

    Connecting headset

As noted above, the Audio Adapter is not required to connect to the controller and the headset should work straight away with no messing about...so it sounds like either the controller is faulty or the headset is

Do you have a pair of normal headphones? In-ear ones or whatever? If so, try plugging them into the controller and see if you can hear any audio. If you can, then the controller is working properly; if you can't then it points to the headset being at fault.

You aren't the first person having issues with that particular headset recently

Going back to the Audio Adapter: Personally, I would recommend buying it anyway. When I first used a headset plugged into a controller, I found the audio to be really poor, as well as being really quiet...not to mention I couldn't adjust things like chat/game mix; the Audio Adapter gave much better quality audio as well as giving back chat/game mix.

Party Chat is to loud, even on lowest setting.

    Hi There,

On your party chat mixer, move it towards the 'game' audio. You can manipulate it till it's mouse quiet. If still too loud - if you have a manual control on your headset, toggle that.

    My game has no sound...

    Thx for the answer!

Does your monitor have built in speakers?

    Nope

Do you have a headset you can try to see if you get sound that way?

I'm always using a headset and I've tried different ones on different controllers. The sound still works when you are not running any game or app. but as soon a game starts there is no sound.

What are your actual settings for audio?

    Speaker audio:

    HDMI audio - Headset format

    Optical audio - Headset format

    Bitstream format - Off

    Headset audio:

Headset format - Windows Sonic for Headphones

Using HDMI or optica audio headset, not checked = no

    Then it says:

"All audio is optimised for headsets right now. Once you unplug your headset, it'll go back to normal."

Xbox Stereo Headset microphone is very quiet on Windows 11

Hi Kathy! Thanks for the reply.

The headset is new, I've only used it on Windows 11 and Windows is detecticing the microphone and recording, just not at an acceptable volume. I've used different headsets in my PC and they work fine. When plugged into my front panel audio, one of my other headsets sounds fine and when plugged into the controller my Turtle Beach Xbox headset is also quiet. I've also recorded on my android phone and an iPad, and the recording sounds great. From my troubleshooting I've determined that it's likely a Windows issue or an issue with the splitter cable that I'm using. I may have a Windows 10 device lying around somewhere that I can test it on if it helps, but I won't be able to use the splitter cable on them.

    Thanks.
