New controller can’t change sound

So I brought a new controller today and I’ve plugged my adapter in and then my headset into the adapter. When I change the volume on the adapter it doesn’t change on the Xbox and doesn’t let me change the audio on the Xbox manually why is this?

Yes there is a the option in your controller setting with the new 3.5 mm controller allows you to change chat and sound volume..

I changed the cable, updated the controller. I can say that the problem is in the connector (controller), but I can’t understand why the vibration works.

It sounds like the batteries on your controllers may be low, have you tried a new set of batteries to see if there's any change?

If you're not having trouble with an older controller it sounds like the issue you're having is on the side of the new controller. Do you have a different headset you can test to see if there's any change?
