New Console: Can't Play Games without Xbox Live Connection

I recently purchased a Slim Xbox 360 from my friend. I cleared the device and added my own hard drive. All of my data is still there, but I cannot play downloaded games (Games with Gold) without an Xbox Live connection like I used to on my old console. I
went to "Accounts" and used the license transfer option. Apparently allowing my to play my games on my new console. However, I still cannot play without a Live connection. All of my Arcade games will run as demos as well. I am clueless now. Advice would be
much appreciated.

What is Xbox LIVE?

Requirements
• An Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter (only available with the original Xbox 360 console).
• A wireless access point, gateway or router that is compatible with Xbox LIVE.
• High Speed Internet connection, preferably DSL or cable.

Note: It is not advisable to use Satellite, 3G or 4G mobile connections due to the possibility of slow performance or lag.

 

You may have to redownload your games after the license transfer.

 

Just to add, there is no need to delete the games before downloading them again. The new licenses are all that need to be downloaded and should only take seconds for each one.
