    New console, 14 day gold code redemption issue


    Hi there,

    I realise I've probably done something silly, but I was setting up my xbox and held up the QR code to get my 14 days of live gold when prompted.

    Later in the process I signed into an outlook microsoft account and it doesn't seem to be linked to the gold membership.

    Can anyone help as I've no idea what phantom account would have got the membership as I had yet to create one.

    Hi,

    You don't have any sort of a free trial attached to your account. If you were offered a 30 day trial on the console dashboard you'll need to add a payment method in order to take advantage of it.

    If you redeemed a trial code like a 2 day or 14 day trial, or even a 30 day trial code from a redemption card then you wouldn't need any sort of payment details. The 2 day/14 day card doesn't give you gold status but lets you play online for the stated days
    (2 or 14 days, depending on what you redeemed), or 30 days (which will give you gold status) if you redeemed it from a gold subscription card.

    Gift cards didn't "take"?

    My new XBox One keeps bugging me to buy Gold. I had three cards with my console. One three-month, and two 14-day trials. I entered both 14-day trial codes, both were accepted, and it still gives no indication that I'm on Gold.

    It keeps bugging me to buy Gold, and it claims the codes I entered are already redeemed.

    So am I on Gold or not?

    Hi Rossa!

    First, if you click on "My Account" in the top right of your screen (here on xbox.com), it will show you exactly what your current subscriptions are.

    Click on your Profile, then the "Home" tab, then "My Account" underneath your avatar.

    If this confirms that the trial has not gone to your account, on your Xbox go to Settings and the "Users" section on the right. It will show you all Microsoft Accounts that have been used on your Xbox and should show you if another account has used the trial.

    If there is no other account there, you will need to talk to a Microsoft employee.

    Use this link:

    support.xbox.com/.../contact-us

    And select "Chat with Microsoft Support"

    The agent will be able to see what has/has not been added to your account and will be able to resolve the situation fully for you.

    I understand that a xbox game pass 14 days trial code or a xbox live gold 14 days trial code can't be used/sold as xbox game pass ultimate 14 days trial code for sure.

    Because a 'xbox games pass ultimate 14 days trial code' equals a 'xbox game pass 14 days trial code + xbox live gold 14 days trial code', so for new Microsoft/Xbox accounts, a 'xbox game pass ultimate 14 days trial codes' could be used/sold as 'xbox game
    pass 14 days trial code' or 'xbox gold live 14 days trial code' , right?

    Yes if it came with a console 14 day trials included with consoles only apply to new accounts

    Same with gamepass
    Actually the gold trials are for any accounts that are not actively gold. Only the game pass codes are for new subscribers.
