New Avatars

I almost forgot avatars even existed until I seen the teaser for the new ones.

Seems pretty cool, wonder if they plan on bring back the avatar games and whatnot again.

New avatars

Hi, I am part of the insider preview Alpha ring and as of yet it hasn't been released for testing.

 

Better look at the dash next week or so?

I hope the new avatars are similiar to the Kinect sports rivals avatars, those look awesome.

 

They certainly do seem to be going for a Pixar animation style with the new Avatars. Perhaps we will see something along the lines of the now abandoned Playstation Home for them to interact in.

PlayStation Home was a bit of a odd thing.

Was fun at first but it did get really boring.

Think I posted about the new avatars a few weeks ago,like I said then,i really am not bothered about avatars but I know a lot of people like them & no doubt there'll be a whole bunch of new avatar items you can buy.

Wonder if games will start doing avatar unlockables again?

 

I'm curious as to whether previous avatar item purchases are going to be upgraded to work with the new style.

Microsoft designed ones should be done but what about ones licensed from third parties? Those I could see being lost.

When PS Home launched at the tail end of 2008, it was a bare bones app with about four primary locations or instances where you could hang out. When the doors were slammed shut some six years later, there were over 100 discreet locations built upon a very
solid foundation (can you say "microtransactions"?). I'm not ashamed to say I spent THOUSANDS of real world dollars over those years, but in the end I have NOTHING to show for it - well, apart from a file folder of over 10,000 screenshots taken in-game.

For those invested, it was literally a "Home away from home", and I don't regret a moment of my time - or dime - spent there. At the same time, I've always maintained that Xbox has been my true home, and was happy to flit between platforms for six years.
In the first iteration of avatars on 360, there was in fact an Atari arcade where you could hang out - but, you could only see other peeps' avatars and not your own. There was also Fire Pro Wrestling (which did showcase your avi), but not much in between.
I'm ready for another round of virtual puckering, and more than happy that Xbox One will be the place to do it! MICROSOFT, TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY!

 

Sorry,i thought Home was pants.I kept going back over a year or so but I found it boring.

 

Avatars is one of the reasons why I chose Xbox late 2010. With Xbox One, it's so full of Windows 8 and Windows 10 squares balonee that makes the UI not as pro-avatar as what Xbox 360's current UI system is like. I know this Australian kid on Xbox 360 who
plays Avatar Editor each day and steers at their avatar on the dash. It can't be me cause I'm New Zealand.

Other reasons why I chose Xbox late 2010 is because Xbox 360 has Party Chat (be in a party chat group of up to 8, and everyone could be doing DIFFERENT things games dashboard watching videos etc and be in the same party chat). PS3 only has Game Chat lol
lol lol (game chat is when you have to be in the same lobby in the same game). Otherwise there's always Private Chat which is boring as steering at a wall, but at least with it, you don't have to be playing the same game. With Xbox 360, you must have a Gold
membership to Party Chat. Probably to weed out the PS trolls who create zero Gamerscore accounts. Xbox also has voice messaging (a favourite with Generation Y people and younger generations). As well as Picture Messaging too which, hardly anyone used.

I suggest you get A World Of Keflings or that Diritos Crash Course 2 I think it is... where you can play in the game using your Xbox/Microsoft 3D character/avatar.

 

Playstation home was a pretty cool concept.

Was something to do to pass time and meet new players, so I'd be down if MS did their own version of it!

Maybe they'll finally bring back 1vs100 again too, that was so fun haha!
