New and old controller for series S

I don’t know when the updates for controllers are but a few weeks ago my controller for the series S stopped working. I tried everything and it didn’t work. My problem is that when I turn the controller on it turns off right after. It even turns the console on. I bought a brand new one and it just came today and it does the same thing. How do I fix this?

You're lucky. You can use the new Series X | S controllers on the old Xbox One.

So to make this even more confusing to figure out. I just dug out my old xbox one s, fired it up and tested all the controller on
it. The old ones still work fine. The black one that came with the new xbox series x works fine. The new style white controller that come with the new xbox series s and the new style black controller bought today from best buy BOTH have the headset low volume
problem on my old xbox one s. Totally confused at this point.

No one knows if the battery will fit the new controller. I would have thought it would. After all, you can play the new controller on the Xbox One and the Series X/S, as you can with the old controller too. So it would be daft not to use the battery from
the old Xbox One controller.

I actually got it to work. I took the batteries out of my controller, unplugged the console for about 10 seconds, then put the batteries back in while I was waiting for the console to load

Sorry to hear that, this is very strange... I don't like to give bad news but if the controllers are not working or turning on (to try downgrading the firmware) the next step will be request a replacement if you have warranty on it
