    New account with old gamertag


    I can't get a straight answer on this so I'm hoping someone can help.

    Account 1: my gamertag

    Account 2: no gamertag

    I want to change the gamertag on account one to something new, which I will be paying $10 to do. I would then like to use the original gamer tag on a new account.

    I bought my daughter her own Xbox but she has been using my account for Overwatch. I would like to keep my same gamertag but she can keep her achievements etc, which are stored on my account. Is this possible? If I pay $10 to change account 1 and I can't
    reuse the name I'm going to be irritated so I'm trying to verify before I do it. Thanks.

    Ran into an issue with backwards compatible games. (Please Help.)

    Your old gamertag is in the xbox 360 cache you have to go to settings and remove the linked account before you can add the new one. This happened to me 2 when i changed the lame tag microsoft assigned me. Even if you put the correct information and passcodes ot wont download your new gamertag until you remove the old linked account

    If you change the GT on your old account (now your daughter's) it will free up that GT to use on another account. All the account info, saves, and achievements will remain with your daughter but the GT will be free for you to use.

    It doesn't give me that option to unregister since i'm on a new account and don't have access to the old gamertag. I've tried to enroll the new account and it tells me that console is registered to a different gamertag (my old gamertag)

    Unfortunately gamertags are not transferable between WLID accounts. You can attempt to go

    aagsmith answered correctly, but there is a way to get your Gamertag on your old account; you can change your new account to a different Gamertag, and then change your old account's Gamertag to your desired one.
