    I recently bought my daughter a 3 month xbox live gold membership from the store and after redeeming it on the console and changing gamertag for her it is only showing as free and not gold. how long does this take to go gold. i have had my gold for a long
    time and i do not remember any trouble like this. i have tried restarting her xbox, re downloading her profile, running network tests etc...

    If this is the profile you're talking about, it's showing as silver not gold. Usually consoles come with 1 free month for up to 3 gamertags not 3 total months.

    xbox live gold free trial

    Your showing as a gold account on here so that may be another reason.The free month is only for new silver accounts.

    I am currently having the same issue with my son. We redeemed the code and he shows as a gold member on his profile but gold benefits are not available and he gets messages that these services are only available to "Gold Members". The code is showing redeemed
    as well.

  5. It would be nice if there was an answer to these types of questions. Even if from a moderator or higher to acknowledged that it has been received.

    Sorry to hear it guys. I have just seen your post.

    If the membership is not yet working please try logging in with the gamertag that the membership was applied to and from the dashboard go to Settings>System>Network and run a Connection Test. If the membership is on that account then it should show up when
    you log back in with the account.

    If it doesn't then please log in to commerce.microsoft.com with the gamertag to ensure the membership is listed under Subscriptions. If it is not then you should call phone support for further assistance.

  7. It would appear that the gold is now working (though, in your case Brock, the profile you're posting with might not be the one you were referring to). On the Xbox.com forums, the profile name is displayed in a gold/orange color when the profile has a Gold
    subscription and in a silver/grey color when its Silver. Are the profiles working now on your consoles?

    After the call with M$ it turns out that the card info i entered must have been incorrect (probably off by 1 number or letter ) and due to the fact that the card was thrown away after christmas they could do nothing about it.they asked me to get the card
    from the trash and I told them i would not be allowed into the local garbage dump. So i went and bought her another 3 month one. this time it worked.

    Sorry to hear about the lost card. If the numbers did not work it should have shown a message saying the code didn't work. For future reference it's always best to hang on to your cards until you are sure they were accepted properly.

  10. That's what was weird. my daughter had a home gamertag (never been online ) when i redeemed the code on her account it took me to the steps in making the gamertag and it showed it had xbox live status but not gold.
