    New 3.5mm controller, mic hissing

I bought the new Xbox One controller with a 3.5mm jack. It works fine but when I use a headset with a mic, there is a hissing noise whenever I'm silent. When I talk, the hiss goes away. People in my party have mentioned it, and I can hear the hiss when recording
a voice over in Upload Studio (the hiss happens when i'm silent, not when I'm talking). Anyone else have this problem? I've tired the Wii U Turtlebeach N11 and a cheap Koss headset with mic. Both have the same issue.

    :)

Xbox One S Controller Loud Hissing Noise when Connecting Headset

Hello, I am experiencing the exact same issue. I got myself some new headphones and there is a loud hissing noise when connected to the Xbox One S controller. The volume decreases, when turning mic monitoring all the way down (it has a line-in mic), but
    is never fully disappears.

That is an odd issue. Can you try power cycling the console by holding the power button on it for 10 seconds until it shuts down to see if that helps?

If it does not, when was the last time you updated the controller with the adapter and headset attached?

If all else fails it may be an issue with the adapter or headsets themselves.

Have I been under a rock or does Microsoft no longer include xbox live headset with new consoles?

no they don't come with one, as all new controllers support virtually any 3.5mm headset with mic including phone headphones with mic.

    Mic doesn't work thru Chatpad

I am having the same issue. I got my chatpad after the Nov 2015 update so I'm not sure if it is related to that or not. Apparently it is not game specific because I have issues with F1 2015. My controller (new 3.5mm mic plug) is USB connected to the console
on the left side. Chatpad into the controller and Microsoft 3.5mm mic into the chatpad. All updates applied and if I unplug the chatpad and use the mic directly into the comtroller, it works fine.
