  1. NEVERENDING NAT ISSUES PLEASE HELP

    Hi,

ive been experiencing NAT issues for as long as I can remember. It continuously gives me connectivity issues for parties when trying to chat with friends or even just find games for a multiplayer match. I am currently running a Cisco XB3 modem through Comcast
with a Netgear R7000 router and with this setup I've been consistently receiving a Moderate NAT type since ive had the Xbox one. every time I've spoken with the Xbox support they help me get it open for maybe an hour then it miraculously changes back to moderate
on its own! I've tried UPnP, DMZ and Port Fowarding, of course not all three at the same time but each time I still get a moderate NAT type with no solution in sight as I cannot hardware the connection I do use wireless! Each time I look at the detailed NAT
information it tells me my network is behind a UPnP port restricted NAT and I'm really not sure where to go from here I've seen the message numerous times before even the issue was fixed when I able to get an open NAT with Xbox support help but for some reason
the NAT keeps switching back and won't allow it be open! Please someone give me some insight on what to do it's been months and it's so frustrating to pay for a service that can't even work properly for me. Any input will be greatly appreciated!!!!

    :)

    Strict NAT Issues. Please Help

A static IP address is not necessarily the same thing as a public IP address. However, a static IP address can be public and a public IP address can be static.

What it sounds like to me is the apartment complex is going to give you a static private IP address on their network where they can do configuration on your address to allow gaming from that IP address on their network.

Isnt a Cisco xb3 a "Gateway" modem and router ? That's what google told me anyway ...if so , they can be "tricky" ...

  5. Yes it is a modem and a router so essentially with the router I have like 4 wifi networks it's crazy but I don't understand why I'm experiencing this NAT issue when hooked up to my Netgear routers wifi rather than my modems wifi.

  6. Is it in "bridge mode" ? you might be able to get it in bridge or you isp might need to , if it THEIR gateway it may have special firmware and sometimes you really cant change things or if you can , they revert (been there , done this with LOTS of friends
and my sons friends so everybody could play together) ....I would get a plain netgear modem to go with the netgear router , your probably renting the other one so may be cheaper ...also , you could hard wire it just to test and see if its just a wireless problem
    or not...

  7. Found this in case its not in bridge ( I don't think it is if you see all those networks )...

    Bridge Mode

Although gateways have numerous functions they can perform, the wireless/routing portion of the unit can be limited by enabling bridge mode. When you bridge a gateway, you are basically removing the extra features of the gateway and turning the device into
a plain modem. At this point, you will not be able to connect to the wireless connection from within the unit. If you want to continue utilizing a wireless connection, you would need to disable bridge mode or use a standalone router.

Currently, most gateways can be placed into bridge mode by the customer from their location. To enable bridge mode:

    1. Have an active connection to internet from the gateway (preferably a hardwired connection).

    2. Open a browser

    3. In the address bar, type in: 10.0.0.1 - hit Enter or Return

    4. You should be redirected to a login page asking for a username and a password. The default username is admin and the default password is password (if these settings were ever switched, you will need to perform a factory reset on the gateway to change
them back to the default settings).

    5. If successful, you will be redirected to the Gateway > At a Glance page and right on that same page, you should see an option to enable and disable bridge mode. When bridge mode is enabled, the word Enable will be surrounded by a green color. When birdge
mode is disabled, you will see the word Disable surrounded by a reddish/orange colored box. Simply click on the word Enable or Disable to toggle your selection.

    6. At that point, you may be redirected to a screen informing you that your gateway is updating. Afterwards, you will need to sign into your gateway again.

After bridge mode is enabled, all wireless capabilities from the gateway cease to function and only port 1 on the back of the gateway should be active.

    NEVERENDING NAT ISSUES PLEASE HELP

The Cisco XB3 and the Netgear r7000 are both acting as routers which is going to cause NAT errors and is also the reason you have 4 wireless networks available as they are both dual band. As Bimnog has pointed out you will need to have the Cisco put into
bridge mode. The only other alternative would be to use the Cisco alone which I do not recommend. The instructions Bimnog has posted are correct. If you have any issues you can also contact Comcast support via phone or chat and they can bridge the Cisco for
    you.
