Never used Xbox Live but my console is banned?

I just tried to connect my Xbox 360 for the first time and when I tested the connection, it went all the way until the Xbox Live. A message then showed up saying that my console was banned from Xbox Live. However, we have never even connect this Xbox 360
to the internet before now. Is this something that can be fixed?

How long did it take you to ditch the OG Xbox?

I almost never sell my consoles or games, so I never really "ditched" my original Xbox. However, it was moved from my living room and put in my bedroom once I got a 360 on launch day. Now, it is in my spare bedroom (more like an office/game room) along with my 360 and other consoles, while the Xbox One is in the living room. I use them sparingly though, compared to the Xbox One.

It sounds like you must have purchased a used console that was abused or tampered with by a previous owner.

Console bans can't be undone by Customer Support and I'm afraid there's not much that can be done. To quote the
Enforcement page on this subject:

Can I still be suspended if I purchased a modified console second-hand?

Yes. The warranty on a second hand console is void, and the purchaser assumes the risk for any previous modifications. If you purchase a console that has been previously banned you will not be able to connect to Xbox Live.

The best suggestion I can give is to contact the place your purchased the console from (hopefully from a reputable chain) and see if they have any policy regarding these issues.

If your Xbox 360 was bought used its a possibility the console was banned and there isn't a way to un-ban the console .

 

It isn't used though. That's why I'm so confused. We bought it brand new several years ago and have never even tried to connect it to the internet before now. Is there a support number or something I can call to get this dotted out?

Your best best to get more information on this action is to post in the Account Suspensions & Console Bans board as this is the only place the Enforcement Team checks or gives comments on their actions. You'll want to include as much information as possible
about the console itself (such as serial number). Note that it's a moderated forum where your posts won't show up until a moderator goes over it. Occasionally, they'll also send you a reply by a forum private message instead of replying to your thread, so
