Never seen so many overhyped games before in my life

It appears to me that these developers spend more money on hype surrounding the game rather than itself. I understand that the consoles are still in its infancy stage but come on give me a break. With all of these games that have been released I have that
feeling of been there done that. Other than the pc the last time I felt I was playing something innovative and new was during the early stages of the 360 but wait not even the 360 the nintendo ds was innovative. The first gears of war was innovative, Madden
2001 was innovative, Half Life was innovative, hell left 4 dead was innovative you guys get the picture.

What's so different about Titanfall? Its a COD clone with jetpacks and mechs that look like rejected models from Mechwarrior series. Watchdogs is not even half the game that GTA 5 is. With that said are these games terrible? No not at all Im just saying
this is suppose to be next generation and by far its extremely disappointing and I swear to god these damn indy games are going on the same trend as reality tv shows. I dont know about you guys but my so called "Next Gen" experience has been a total letdown.

Don't you love the service we get here? Not one reply to this? I've never seen so many issues with a console! My NES had less issues! I'm never buying another microsoft product in my life! 6 years of membership and i can't even redownload my profile!!!!!!!!!!!

So many things wrong with this point...

1. 10 Minutes is not long enough to form a decent opinion on something.

2. You've never seen drifting then.

3. Do you really think games = real life?

 

Innovation is risky and unprofitable, simple as that.

 

Not sure why you expected such a step forward so early in the new consoles life-cycles. It was never going to be that why since developers are still pushing out 360/PS3 versions of these games.

 

Slowly but surely. Patience is key.

on how bad Watchdogs is. It's a testament to how great GTA5 is.

@UNYOBRO- Couldn't have said it better myself. Gamers always say they want innovation, yet the games that try to innovate (Psychonauts, Catherine, Brutal Legends, El Shaddai etc. etc.) fall flat on their face. Everything Double Fine makes is quirky and unique
and critically acclaimed yet they sell so bad, Tim Schafer now has to resort to Kickstarter programs to get a game made. Yet, Call of Duty 9,021 will sell billions of copies. That tells game developers/publishers everything they need to know about what gamers
TRULY want, despite what they say to the contrary.

OT: I gotta agree OP. That's why I haven't went next gen yet. Hopefully Fallout 4 and Destiny will change that. One thing you need to understand is that gamming consoles aren't going to see the jump in graphical fidelity now, like they did before. We're
at a point of diminishing returns in that respect. That's why I didn't buy a PS4 or ONE. They keep releasing the games for last gen and they don't look $600 dollars better to me.

 

GTA V is pretty over-hyped.

Watchdogs looks better, is bigger, has better shooting, better driving, better minigames more innovations, has a city that feels more alive and is actually much more fun to play.

It's no surprise at all to discover you don't own a "One" or that a guy with that gamertag thinks GTA V is "da shizzle".

I will agree with the Titan Fall statement; highly overrated and a glorified COD. Entertaining for a bit but wears thin. Basically a filler, IMO.

 

Hype sells games. If I was a developer/publisher I would hype my games up so much and milk all of you for your money I would be worse than Activison and EA.

Back on topic though, I think Titanfall is innovative.. yes it's a FPS game, but at least Respawn have tried something new with not having a traditional campaign, the freedom of movement - can't remember the last time I played
a first person military shooter where I had freedom of movement. Instead of the game ending once one team reaches the score limit or time limit the losing team in Titanfall have the chance to evacuate.

A lot of publishers/developers will play it safe and release what they know people will love, take Call of Duty for example - the reason it's successful is because it's familiar.

For me this generation has not been a letdown, but then again I was not expecting much innovation, at least not this soon.

I completely disagree with the OP.

Today's gamers seem to be a fickle lot with short attention spans and a limited grasp of what they're actually doing.

Most people with a ONE couldn't figure out how to use Party Chat and instead of figuring out how to use Party Chat they came over here to complain that the One was stupid for not aping the 360's dashboard.

Maybe smartphones have spoiled gamers today and short break apps have given them short attention spans.

For whatever reason before they get stuck into a game it's "I'm bored". Their attention spans barely last a week with new games.

That's too bad really. Maybe they should stick to their smartphones because the One's games are really good and meant to keep you going for a very long time.

"Titanfall" is awesome and yeah, I suppose if you've only got one game it might get a little stale but as part of a balanced gaming diet it's an awesome title that will keep you playing for generations.

 

How dare the publishers hype their games! I shall send an angry letter to Activision, EA, Ubisoft & SEGA demanding them to fire their whole publicity & marketing team and ask the small publishers and indie studios to not promote their games whatsoever.

 

I know what my gamertag means. I coach both my boys baseball teams and it's an inside joke. Most people (online) assume I'm black so over the years I've been told it's a reference to an Ice Cube song. Not intentional. I'm more of a rock/country kinda guy.
What next? You're gonna tell me I'm lame and unoriginal for the xX Xx in my gamertag like I've seen so many of the mouthbreathers on this sight say. If you have that much time to worry about someones gamertag and the origins of it's existence, than your life
is as shallow as a puddle of spit. Next thing you know you're gonna be calling me a devil worshipper because of my gamer pic. I'll save you the time. I graduated from Arizona State University and their mascot is the Sun Devils.

OT: I agree with you and I think KANAYE pretty much summed it up. I don't think the games are overhyped. My stance is that I can play 'em all on my 360 and PS3. Ghosts, Titanfall, Theif, BF4, Watch Dogs, Wofenstein. All the AAA games that have been released
thus far. I'm glad I waited cause a slight graphical upgrade isn't worth $4-5 hundred dollars.....IMO.
