Never Got a "Free gamertag" Change

The free change is only available if you were given a randomly generated tag when you signed up and are changing that tag for the first time. So if you have a tag you chose, you have technically used the free change.

However, with the new gamertag policy, you can still get a free change. You can read about it here https://support.xbox.com/my-account/manage-gamertag-and-profile/gamertag-updates-faq
and you would need to go to https://social.xbox.com/changegamertag to change it.

The free change only applied to new accounts and the change would have had to occur within the first 30days of account creation.

Yea, you should've had a free gamertag change. If you contact support, they might just give you a free gamertag change after you explain that you never changed it.
