To prevent this from happening again (so long as it's a compatible drive) format the usb stick on your pc first and then configure it to the 360.

Did you configure it on the console or use a non supported flash drive these are reasons why they could have unconfigured.

Yes, I'll explain. the July 29th update bricked my console. My gamer tag is linked to my Gmail account. Monobuckleis the one Microsoft gave me when I got my first of 3 360s that red ringed before I got my 360 slim.

My blue ray drive failed after 13 months. Now Microsoft says that because of that I can't update my Xbox one and I have to send it in for repair at my cost. Nice how it makes out that Microsoft profits and I'm out

 

Just to clarify... my console worked fine without the disc player functioning. Now I can't get past the black screen of death

 

So anyone have any idea if there is any possible fix other than osu1. This is monobuckleis btw

A faulty disc drive wont prevent your console from updating.

 

Really?. I said other than osu1..... look, I started my Xbox one two weeks ago after moving into my new house. The console sat for a while because buying a house took up all of my free time. As soon as I turned it on it updated with the April update. No
issues at all what so ever. Saturday night July 30th. I watched Netflix for about an hour and turned the console off. Sunday morning I turned it back on to see an update screen and Something good went wrong Screencast up. It's been that way ever since. I've
been on the phone with Microsoft for 3 days and nothing works. But they want their $100.00 and said I could just buy a new console if I didn't send it in

 

Buy a used X1 for around $75 bucks (Yes, used X1's are selling cheap) and just transfere everything over.

Pawn shops and the like will give you a 30 day, full exchange warranty, and will confirm before you buy - The console isn't banned.

 

^Really? Show me where you can find a *fully functional* Xbox One for $75 and I'll take 10. Even broken ones are going for more than that on eBay.

 

Pawn shops, Craigslist, Yardsales, Fleemarkets, etc.

Go check em out.. Oh, and just last week our local Wallyworld had New X1's priced at $175.98

 

Sounds like a viable alternative.

 

Everything on Craigslist is at least 150
