Never Alone download doesn't complete

Hi all

I purchased Never Alone [1] online prior to unboxing a new Xbox One, and have been unable to get it to completely download for over a week.

First attempt got to 30%, but after that got stuck in a cycle of Queued, Installing, Queued etc. with a bunch of Installation Stopped along the way.

I've tried all the usual steps (restart router, clear alternate MAC address, clear local storage, uninstall/re-download, refresh profile, factory reset) and the game still won't download.

Following the profile refresh it got to 94% while on a chat to Xbox support, but hung as soon as I got off the chat (assuming it was sorted).

Other games I've bought via the console have downloaded fine.

I'm in NZ, my account region is NZ, ISP is Vodafone.

I wonder if it's a region issue, since when I try to purchase games online I get the US store and a US credit card form (previously I've got a NZ card form, and my Live account has a NZ card already registered that the purchase form ignores).

Anyone have any ideas what to try next?

I got the achievement for complete NEVER ALONE and view all cultural insights in NEVER ALONE. But don't got levle complete and find all in sights in a area since 1-13-2015.

Just to be sure I kicked off an account migration (after that service came back up), and even though my account claimed it was in NZ, I got a confirmation that it had shifted from the US region to New Zealand.

Will give the download another go tonight...

 

I have been having this problem for some time - and I have had it before too. But, no matter how many times I contact support, via phone, online chat, etc., they never seem to believe me when I say it appears to be an Australian/NZ issue.

Today I even had Korean and Japanese achievements and challenges pop up. Somehow Microsoft gets things mixed up for a while. I have almost given up hope of ever being able to play Never Alone again - and then I will be asking for a refund.

Would be interested to know if you have any success tonight.

 

No luck after the account migration (+ a factory reset).

I'd say you're right, that this is an issue specific to the game and probably local (otherwise you'd hope someone would have noticed it doesn't work for anyone).

 

Yeah, I would have been a little surprised if the region would have been the cause of this issue - I would have expected a clear error message in that case. I checked my account to be sure anyway - my Xbox One is set to Australia, and my Microsoft account
region is also set to Australia.

I have seen this issue with other games in the past - but at those times there were also issues with Xbox Live as well so it was not really clear what the cause was. If I get another response back from the Never Alone development team (who have been very
helpful), I will post back here. If, by chance, the install/download should suddenly start working again (I try every 12 or so hours), I will also report back.

 

If u are having freezing installation issues, try this

go to settings>power and start up>restart now to close out all apps and games that might be open in the background

 

I am afraid that I have tried this about 100 times. I have also hard reset around 50 times, gone into device maintenance around 20 times, reset the Alternate MAC around 10 times, power cycled my Router around 20 times. In fact, I have probably tried everything
know to mankind! Honestly, after 4 or 5 contacts with support, they still will not believe that this is an Australian/NZ region/server issue. I have had this before. By tracing the network frames you can plainly see that the installation is attempting to contact
servers that are simply nonexistent, closed down, or not available.

 

I bought Never Alone yesterday and similarly it refuses to download. It flicks every few minutes between Queued and installing. However, it never gets off 0%.

It is only this game (that I've seen), as I just downloaded screamride demo & Quickflix to test that it wasn't a more widespread problem.

I've power cycled, factory reset and neither has done the trick. After reading Ross's post above that doesn't seem surprising.

Guess I'll have to apply for a refund if it doesn't get sorted. But I'd rather have the game.

 

Well, it has now been almost 2 weeks that people have bought a game that cannot be downloaded/installed. The issue has also been made known to Microsoft by the game developer/publisher.

I find it quite unacceptable that after all this time there is no solution to this issue and not even a recognition (as far as I can tell) from Microsoft that anything will ever be done about it.

it is a great shame because Never Alone is a wonderful game, yes so many people are currently unable to play it.

 

Rediculous that it's even possible for this to happen. Are there no internal checks/monitoring by XBL staff/systems?

I've had this problem for the last two months with every download.

Apps, games, doesn't matter. Everything gets stuck at a random percentage and won't resume. I restart the download and run into the same thing.

I'm in the US btw.

Are you trying to download to an external hard drive by any chance?

 

The people reporting on this and the linked post appear to only have a problem with Never Alone, and the Never Alone team seem to have confirmed there is an issue.

My issue is with a stock console and after factory reset, so it's unlikely to be a console issue.

 

I'm having some kind of similar issue I think. I did manage to download never alone, but when I try to launch it says that it needs an update. However it won't download the update, saying that there's a problem with the update. Perhaps an update was released
that is causing problems in AUS/NZ (I'm AUS), which is causing the download issue?
