  1. Networking question

My roommate is insistent that he's suffering from "lag" in several of his games - all "fighting type" games, I can get the specific titles if need be. He maintains he's seeing a 1/10 of a second lag coming directly from our internal network setup. I have
a hard time believing that as 1/10 of a second is 100ms and below are two speed tests, one from the closest server (Charter in St. Louis) and one from Chicago. Both of them look pretty good to me, but I thought perhaps I could get some un-biased viewpoints
    - please.

    St. Louis (Olivette) Charter Server:

    Ping: 8ms

    Download Speed: 120.55Mbps

    Upload Speed: 5.38Mbps

    Chicago Comcast Server:

    Ping: 23ms

    Download Speed: 126.76Mbps

    Upload Speed: 5.39Mbps

I'm not saying he's not having some sort of lag with his game(s), but I really can't see it being internal to our network. As I said, any thoughts from anyone would be appreciated.

    :)

" If you are in a party, you are put into a match that suits your whole party .. thus less of a chance to get into a good one".

    .

Can you confirm this? I haven't heard it but it would be interesting to know for certain.

If you can, get a 60 foot network cable! I don't trust wifi for gaming one bit.

    Hi there Hambone Jones70.

Sorry to hear about your issues you're having with your game performance and connection.

Since your speed is up to date. Have you tried going on the
    connection/performance troubleshoot page
    ?

    Greetings Hambone!

You can ask your roommate to do a traceroute, using his/her Xbox 360 for this test. A traceroute is more a detailed method, to test for basic IP connectivity, than ping. Traceroute will also use three echo requests for each hop, to see if there's slow link
    in the chain.

Go to Xbox Network settings. Select your connection type and press the following combo on your controller:

LT RT RT LT RB LB and select tracert.xbox.com

You can tell your friend to use this thread, to post his/her result from this test.

    Thanks!

Oh, yeah, right, right. That's cool, I understand that. I was wondering whether the game would take note of where everyone was from and try to find as fair a game as possible.

    No worries man : )
