Networking on Xbox One X

Hi, I recently purchased an Xbox One X and never had this problem with my previous Xbox One. Every time I turn on my Xbox it will either not sign into my account or not connect to the internet. Often if the Xbox is connected to the internet it will sign
me out after half an hour. I’m just wondering if it is an issue with my Xbox, my account or my internet connection. I have restarted my modem and Xbox many times and the problem still persists and has done so since i purchased the Xbox.

I'm having some network issues with my Xbox One X. I've actually had these since launch day.

I have a wired connection, but also have wifi in my house.

Since launch, when I powered off with instant-on enabled, when it turns back on, it connects to wifi, not wired connection. Disconnecting from wifi, it just says there's no connection. It didn't see the wired connection at all - until I did a hard reboot, then
it would work fine.

I contacted support and they pointed me in this direction: Xbox One Network Ports | Xbox Live Network Ports

I did all that and it worked... until I got a new router (Netgear Nighthawk X6). I immediately ran into the same issue. I followed that guide, and it did not fix it. I still had to hard reboot to get it to connect to the wired connection.

Then, a few months later, it wouldn't connect to anything (wifi or wired) when waking up from instant-on. I had to do a hard reboot to get any sort of internet connection.

It's been this way for several months. I just disabled instant-on and do a hard reboot every time I turn on my console.

I still have my original Xbox One and it has never run into an issue like this.

I am a member of the preview program, but I have since opted out of beta updates on the X in hopes that only the released versions of the dashboard would fix my problem - it hasn't.

My original Xbox One still gets beta updates and has never run into any networking issues whatsoever.

I've also tried setting a static IP for my X through the X and through my router - this didn't change / fix anything.

Any advise would be appreciated. I'd like to use instant-on again some day.

 

So probably if you have tried all this there's an hardware problem with your Xbox, probably network card...if you have tried both connecting via wi-fi and cable and don't work and also your modem/router it's ok the only thing i can think it's an hardware
problem.

Hey Estaban, sorry the guide didn’t work for me as the xbox wont connect to the internet when i try the troubleshooting guide. I also dont get an error message, the xbox simply tells me that there is an xbox live issue and to check your server status,
your status page never has any problems with servers at the time of my xbox suggesting as such.

 

Hey Crane thanks for keeping us in the loop!

If the steps provided by XBF Esteban R didn't work the problem might be
on the actual OS of the console so we would suggest a
Soft Factory Reset (while keeping games and apps) IF AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS MET:

• There is a stable network connection.
• The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)

Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup lets do manual setup. Give it a shot and let us know of any changes!

 

I can’t say that its a stable connection after what my xbox has given me but i’ll give it a shot, thank you

 

Hello Ichabod!

It appears that there is a connection miscommunication from console to home network.

If it has not yet been suggested, is this the same status when plugged in via Ethernet connection?

As well, if after a soft factory is applied and has not resolved the case, the network hardware might be our next suggestion to look into as in some situations the firmware for routers/modems may need to be upgraded.

Get in touch after with your Internet Service Provider after attempting our steps, and let us know how it goes.
