I am having issues with slow downloads. I'm getting an average of 2-4Mb down and 2mb up through wired (with only a 1ft ethernet cord directly to modem or router) or wireless (2.4ghz N and 5ghz N). every other device in my house is clocking 45Mb down and
10Mb up without much effort. I tried to change the DNS servers and it worked temporarily until the xbox froze while gaming and i had to hard reset. Now i can't even change the DNS servers at all. I've reset the router as well multiple times. Im convinced this
is an issue with the xbox and not my network. Does anyone have any solutions?

EDIT: i also have the Xbox one on a DMZ host on my router and i now have an open NAT but it hasnt made a difference as far as speed goes

    :)

Could you detail out what "all the necessary steps" are, so we don't post up solutions that may only echo back.

Post up the make and model of your modem, along with the make and model of your router.

Is the firmware version of your router up-to-date?

Do you connect wired or wireless with your console? If wireless, do you only have your wireless router between it, and your console, or do you use an extender for coverage?

Do you connect multiple Xbox consoles to the very same router Internet connection?

Could you log in to the UI of your router and (in most conditions) have a look under WAN settings, and let us know if the IP listed as the WAN/Internet address is a public, or private, IP address. If you don't know the difference between public and private
    addresses, then wiki away.

You may also want to verify that your console is running in Energy-saving power mode. If not, switch from Instant-On to Energy-saving.

    Hey TehNotorious,

Thanks for reporting your issue on the Support Forums!

Could you please provide the following details:

    • What is the make/model of your router/modem?
    • Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)?
    • Can you run a speedtest from a PC, on the same connection set-up, at speedtest.net and reply back with the test URL.
Once you reply back with those details, we'll have a better idea of what's happening here.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your quick response.

    1. I think you are right, it probably is not a network issue. I do not receive any error message when checking my network connection; the network, internet, and xbox live are all connected just fine.

    2. I received an error message, “80072ee2” that led me to this forum on xbox support,

    support.xbox.com/.../software-update-errors
It told me that my problem was that the update could not be downloaded from xbox live. I checked when the download was issues, and it was right around the same time that my xbox started lagging out (August 26,
    2013).

    3. Ah ah! Now that is interesting. I disconnected the hard drive and turned it on. Before it booted up, I was prompted to get a system update. However, I need 190 mb of free space… so, I plugged the hard drive back on. But then it does not update
and is still slow. Do I need a new hard drive? and will that erase my xboxlive account?

Thank you again for your help,

    Jeremiah ()

Hey there! OK a few things.

    1. That does indeed sound really frustrating, but I bet there are things we can do to help! From what you're describing, it doesn't sound like it's a network issue (since menus and such run slowly), but just in case, the first thing I'm going to link you is
the Troubleshoot Xbox Live connectivity problems.

    2. Now, what's leading you to believe you need to reinstall the update? Is the console saying something about that specifically?

    3. Let's see if it's something hardware related. Can you please try removing all accessories (including the hard drive if you have one) and connecting to Live again?
