  1. Network transfer

    Good day,

I just got a new xbox one S and tried to copy my games using network transfer from the old OG xbox to the new but few games won't copy especially Black Ops 4. I realized a few other games won't copy but BO4 is my main worry for now as the game size is huge
and I don't want to redownload it as my connection is slow and it took me 3 days to complete the initial download. I have restarted both consoles and checked for updates of which there are none.

    Any assistance would be helpful

    :)

I would leave both consoles on while it actively transfer files to prevent any chance of interruption.

I have read somewhere that you are still able to complete the network transfer by leaving the source console turned on, but the destination console in standby (with instant-on power mode enabled). No real guarantees though, as I've only personally done the
    former method.

do you have network transfer enabled on both consoles?

Do you have an external hard drive that you could use to get around this issue?

    Hi Law Maker!

Thanks for reaching out! Since you said that you are having
trouble copying some games to your new console via network transfer
you may want to ensure that you are meeting the correct criteria during transfer (example: not playing a game on the host Xbox). If you are meeting all the criteria, then any games or apps
that have not transferred over may need to be downloaded and installed manually via the new console, or you can also try restarting the network transfer itself.

    Hope this helps out!

Please be sure to let us know the results!

  7. I met the criteria cos a couple of other games copied. And no i wasnt playing any game, nor was there any update for any of the games i was trying to transfer. I restarted the connection several times to no avail.

It really looks like I'll have to redownload them again

    Hi Law Maker,

Thanks for the reply! I'm sorry to hear about the issue on
copying games to your new console vial network transfer
. Unfortunately, the file at times may be corrupted for transfer and a quick fix is to install it directly to the console.

    • What is the error message you are receiving when you attempting to transfer?

Hope this helps. Let us know.

  9. Thanks for your concern.

Even worse it doesn't give any error message. The download just stops like the connection went out. Like where it says pause if you pause a downloading game

    Hello Xx Law Maker xX,

Our next suggestion here, attempt a Soft Factory Reset by selecting the following:

Reset and keep my games & apps. You should use this option as your primary choice when troubleshooting. It will reset the OS and delete all potentially corrupted data without deleting your games or
apps. This will save you from downloading or reinstalling the large game files

This option will do the following:

    1. Remove profiles (Be sure to keep all information for signing into any/all accounts)
    2. Redo the network connection, so it's best to have backups, i.e. Ethernet cord, hotspot connection

Try this for us and let us know if this works.

    Best wishes!

    Hello,

Sorry for the late reply, had a long shift.

I just tried that now to no avail.

I've decided to just download it over the weekend while I play on the OG xbox.

    Thanks for all the support

As long as you're signed into Live, the games saves are stored on the cloud. Only the games themselves would be moved over through a network transfer. Once you start the game, it should tell you it's syncing your save.

Hello JacobPerch, I hope everything is going well!

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Xbox Forum support!

I highly recommend following the troubleshooting steps here:

After each step try to see if the issue is fixed!

First, please select System > Settings > account > remove accounts and then select your account and select Remove to confirm.

Then, hold down the power button for about 10 seconds, until the console shuts off, then unplug the power cord and wait for 2-3 minutes before plugging it back in and turn on the Xbox.

If the issue persists, please select System > Settings > General > Network setting > Advanced settings > Alternate MAC address: clear

Then, please select System > Settings > devices and streaming > blue ray > persistent storage > clear three times > restart console.

If you are still encountering the same issue, please select System > Settings > System > Console info > Select Reset console > Choose Reset and keep my games and apps

I wish you a lovely day, and I hope this helps you out!

    Kind Regards

    Stay safe, and happy gaming!

    Network transfer

    Hello Charlie,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

We understand you want to know if you can turn off the network transfer on your Xbox Console. Network transfer is a feature that allows you to copy games and apps from one Xbox console to another over your local network. You can turn off network transfer when you are done transferring your games and apps to your new Xbox. To do that, follow these steps:

    1. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

    2. Go to Profile & system > Settings > System > Backup & transfer.

    3. Under Network transfer, uncheck the box that says Allow network transfer.

This will stop your Xbox from sending or receiving games and apps over the network.

For your reference, you may also check this link: Use network transfer to copy games and apps to another Xbox | Xbox Support

We hope this helps you enjoy your new Xbox. If you have any other questions or issues, please let us know.

Have a great day and happy gaming!

The data will move to his console, but he won't own the game or the DLC and won't be able to access it unless you have his console as your Home or you're signed in.
