Keep hearing from Microsoft/Xbox support that this is not an issue and they are not aware of it etc. I spoke with Xbox support for 3 hours yesterday trying to sort this out and they said eventually that I would have to reconfigure my router, reset my console
to factory default settings and if that does not work send my console in for repairs.

There are a few things that are not being answered though: how can a hardware issue prevent me from clicking my connect to xbox live pin on my home screen? IF I cant get a live connection how am I suppose to delete my profile or factory reset my console?
It is a risk to do this as I have a chance of effectively bricking my console should live not connect after all that.

I do however have a temporary workaround for anyone experiencing this issue and hopefully it works for you too.

My brother and I started having the exact same issues on our consoles this past weekend and it was just by trial and error/luck that this worked:

Basically when you power on your XB (insant on or normal power up) you wont be connected to live although you are connected to your wifi/network. So in order to engage the live connection again do the following: Disconnect from the current network under
network settings. Setup a new wireless connection, before you do this, if you have a smart phone create a personal hotspot, connect your console to that phone hotspot. Run a network/multiplayer test and even if it says high packet loss/slow connection/slow
upload speed - click the home button, wait for live to connect (it should do) after a couple of seconds. When it is connected again, go back to network settings, disconnect from phone hotspot. Re-connect to wifi. Click xbox home button and you should be connected
to live through your wifi like normal.

It works every time - hopefully it works for everyone until Microsoft fixes this unknown issue or at least acknowledges that there is an issue.

Keeping your Xbox on instant on also helps a bit - every now and then when I turn on my Xbox I have a live connection but most times not and have to run this process just to get it working.

Would like to hear if this works for anyone else?

    :)

  4. Network test Results: Internet connection but cannot connect to Xbox Live because there is a ...

FYI this is the issue were the connection to the internet is 100% on your console but live cannot connect no matter what.

And just to add I have tried every trouble shoot there is bar factory reset/removing profile. That includes unplugging power, resetting router/console, clearing MAC address, setting static IP... the list goes on. I have read that other people have reset
consoles to factory default and removed profiles but then cant get anything back because the live connection is still not working - effectively bricking the Xbox.

Nothing has worked for me except the workaround posted above.

    Hi there LonestarSky23,

Sorry to hear about the connection issues.

If I understand correctly, you're having issues with connecting to Xbox Live from the home on your Xbox. Are you able to test your connection by going doing the following:

Follow the steps from the troubleshooting guide
    here
. After doing so, please click on Test network connection.

Please let us know what the result of that test is Network test Results: Internet connection but cannot connect to Xbox Live because there is a ... :)

    Hi there,

I would suggest a hard reset as the first step, unplug for ten seconds, plug back in, if this doesn't work you may also try clearing the alternate mac address under settings>network settings>advanced settings>alternate mac address and select clear, if all
of this doesn't work you may also try removing the profile you are trying to use from the Xbox and then re signing in.

Let me know if any of this is helpful.

  7. Hi,

Yeh I have tried every trouble shoot method. I will not reset my console to factory default or remove profile because if I cannot get live connection after that my xbox will be bricked.

I have a temporary workaround using my phone hotspot (mentioned above) and then connecting back to my wifi which always seems to work but Microsoft need to sort out these live issues.

I just want to be connected instantly once I have powered up the console. There are a lot of people having this issue.

  10. My router is perfect - network works perfectly on every other device. And Live connects from the wifi connection again after the hotspot so how can it be the router? I seriously doubt that everyone that is having this issue has the same router as me - and
there are a lot of complaints about this exact problem.

  12. Yeh I understand that but mine has been working perfectly for a year on my xbox one - never had this problem before. Even with a cabled network from that router this problem exists.

If the Xbox is able to connect via phone 100 percent of the time but only through your router sometimes then this proves the issue is a third party network device.

  14. routers sometimes work fine for a long time then stop , this is especially true if your router is a gateway that your isp supplied to you , they push through firmware updates all the time without your knowledge....and , isp issued equipment is just not very
good in my experience...best move I ever made was to return mine and get my own modem and my own router ....me and my group of friends that have played together for a LONG time NEVER have any of the problems I see listed here all the time....

  15. guys I highly suspect a broken update. there was an update a few days ago at the beginning of the month and ever since then the xbox one's ability to hook up with live has been messed up. when I go to settings>system>latest update status it says update
pending. which suggests a broken update. it should NOT be saying update pending.
