Network says it works (but it doesn't!)

Hello,

I have an Xbox 360 slim that has been in storage for about 3 years now. It was the model with small internal memory that I later added a hard drive to. I have issues with several of the apps saying they are unavailable at the moment like crackle and motorsports and several games would hang in an update and internet explorer didn't work. I tried to use a Xbox live gold card I bought a while back, scratched it off and entered the code and it said "Not Valid". I noticed the network said all tests were passed and YouTube played content at max resolution flawlessly and stats show speeds of around 10Mbps and no dropped packets. But in Xbox network statistics it shows I have a download speed of 0.01Mbps and an upload of 6Mbps. Here's a shot of the last test I ran.

So I tested the speed on the cat cable and it is actually around 80Mbps down and 17Mbps up.

Out of curiosity I checked on wireless and got the same thing (0.01Mbps). I then tried my phone as a hotspot and again, same 0.01 down. The Xbox sits in the router DMZ (no ports blocked) with a reserved IP. This is the same with a static IP or with DHCP. If you push status you get these codes. I've found some in forums, others I can't decipher. I've read that W:0000-000B means there is an issue connecting to Xbox live.

I then moved everything to my HDD and removed it. When I turned it back on, I cleared the cache, reset network settings, formatted the internal memory, and when it restarted, it ran one update and then it acted like I had no internet at all. I had no option for explorer, and my profile wouldn't download. I finally got it to update after I forced a test on network statistics. Then it let me download my profile (pretty quick) and then did a big update. After that restart I had IE again and it worked! But same speeds as before and apps still didn't work (except YouTube). Tried to down load a video and app service was unavailable. Did an update and then it was available but wouldn't let me because I didn't have room (HDD is still out). None of the other apps were available either. (Checked the website and all said they were fine.)

The network is fine and works well as YouTube works, and downloads work, but the drivers or software for the NIC must be acting up. Is there a way to force an update of these drivers or a way to tell if it's hardware? Searching Microsoft is useless as they always say it's the ISP but this is definitely NOT my ISP. (I used to be a Network Admin so I know it's not my local network.) Could this be a port upstream that's being blocked for one application but not for another? Can anyone decipher those codes and how to fix them?

Test network connection if above step doesn't work let me know what it says.

That doesn't work when your having the network limitations error, and you have to do it about 10-20 times if the party crashes, is not simple and its not guaranteed and is timely.

Also it shouldn't happen, saying there is a way round it, doesn't give anyone anyone confidence.

So you are saying ICS or bridging isn't working on Win8 because it doesn't recognise that an Ethernet cable is plugged into your PC network card is that right? If so its certainly a Win8/PC problem and nothing to do with port forwarding at this stage.

Maybe Win8 doesn't have the right drivers for your network card. Can't you rollback to Win7 if it worked ok as the difference here seems to be Win8 if I'm reading your posts right?

when i went to system settings and then network settings, it doesn't say configure network. All I see are wireless networks. Please help!
