  1. Network protocol

I’ve had my Xbox on my new internet for about 4 months with no issue. All of a sudden it tells me my network protocol won’t work. Although it lets me connect to the network and it says I’m online, there’s no internet. I did a factory reset but now I cannot update the Xbox because the internet still won’t work.

    :)

    Wifi connection at a hotel

    Hello, LostProdigy422

Since you are using the Wifi at a public place, there may be firewall blocking incoming and outgoing connections to Xbox Live. You will have to ask the network administrator at the hotel to open some ports to your internet connection.

Ask the network administrator to open -

    On Xbox 360:

Port 3074 and set the protocol to Both

Port 53 and set the protocol to Both.

Port 80 and set the protocol to TCP

Port 88 and set the protocol to UDP

    On Xbox One:

Port 3074 and set the protocol on Both

Port 53 and set the protocol on Both

Port 80 and set the protocol on TCP

Port 88 and set the protocol on UDP

Port 500 and set the protocol on UDP

Port 3544 and set the protocol on UDP

Port 4500 and set the protocol on UDP

    Hope this helps your issue.

Thanks for contacting us my name is Samy, I am an Independent Advisor and I will be helping you today.

    How are you, Don?

Do your 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz networks have the same name? If so, try leaving the networks with different names.

On IPV6, the console automatically works with this network protocol if your ISP has the protocol natively active on the network and also on your network equipment.

It won't work to just activate the option on your modem/router if your ISP doesn't have this protocol on your network.

How do I go about getting ipv6 instead of ipv4 for my internet connection. (going off memory might not be ipv4)

I'm Samy an independent advisor. Welcome to the Xbox community. How are you?

You will need to talk to your ISP to see if it is possible to disable the IPV4 protocol, it is possible that if you disable this protocol you will not be able to use other services with your connection.

The console works with IPV6 automatically if your network has this protocol. You will also need to speak with your ISP to see if they have or can enable this protocol on your network.

Impossible to use live with WPA2-AES?

thats the security protocol for your wifi network - you would need to log in to your router and change it from wpa2-aes to another protocol
