    Network Port Degrades Over Time

Day One console here. This took me a while to diagnose, but luckily I had switches with a management interface where I could see port details. Basically what happens is the console works great for a few weeks, and slowly but surely more port errors show
up on the port the Xbox is plugged into to the point where it no longer can obtain an IP address. I restart it, and it will be fine again for a few weeks. This just started happening within the last 6 weeks I would say.

I have swapped switches, ports, cables, everything. I have another Xbox One plugged into the same switch, doesn't have the problem, so it seems specific to this console.

Maybe I'll just wait until the Creators Update, hoping this is a software issue. Anyone else have this problem?

    :)

    Handheld release?

Also remember DVD, BD and CD degrade over time (some disks can degrade within 10 years). So you better back up your CDs onto HDD using losses compression and accurate audio-rip software (e.g. Foobar).

The used car thing cant even come close to a good comparison. Cars degrade over time and games do not.

    Hey there Alcoholic Rug.

Sorry to hear the trouble with your network connection. To start off, what type of network hardware are you using to connect to Xbox Live? Also, when your connection slows, have you tried a full power cycle on your Xbox One by holding down the power button
for 8-10 seconds until it powers off completely?

Is it safe to leave external SSD on all the time?

    Hi,

I can't see how it would be unsafe. SSD's contain no moving parts. While SSD's will degrade slowly over time with data being overwritten, they don't degrade by just being on, or from constant reading.

You probably leave your phone on all the time, they contain the same type Nand Flash SSD drives use.

    I just now noticed this

    ^

I'm, doubtful as well... it would be extremely unlikely, I think, and I've never seen any indication that clothes do degrade over time.

    .

Plus, if clothes, why not armour?
