    I bought myself a Netgear Knighthawk X6S (R8000P)-AC4000, which had very strong reviews across multiple sources. And it is a very nice router except for 2 pretty major issues, which are not limited to the version of hardware I purchased.

    1) With firmware released since November 2019, whenever one tries to join or host an Xbox Live Party with 5+ members, the router reboots. This is a firmware issue that was introduced and has continued to be a problem since. The obvious fix would be to revert
    to a previous, known good firmware version or a third party firmware. However...

    2) The firmware versions starting with the one released in November 2019 prevent the firmware from ever being updated again. Once you have the bad firmware in place, the router is stuck with it regardless of the method you choose to attempt to change it.
    I tried several different methods including factory reset, shock reset, and a couple of obscure ways supplied by Netgear Support to force a working version of firmware onto the hardware. There was no success in applying a different firmware.

    So buyer beware! Netgear is unable to resolve this issue short of replacing the hardware, which they are unwilling to do. There is a very long forum thread which you can go read yourself. Again, this issue is not specific to the model I bought and has been
    around for almost a year now without a resolution. There are a great many consumers unhappy with this. I just wanted to share this information with the community so that hopefully I can save some people the aggravation I had to endure.

    Please also ensure your Netgear router firmware is up to date, check on their website to see if there is a more recent update you can use

    Howdy Snake! Yes it appears certain firmware iterations for that router can cause issues for your Xbox.

    Reading through some
    Netgear forums    , it seems that firmware release 1.0.0.68 is the best choice for that router.

    Here is the Netgear support article for your R6300 if you need help upgrading your firmware.

    Connectivity issues

    Well, it says it's wired. I have seen recently that the most recent firmware of Genie on Netgears has been causing some problems wired. You say you that the console has the internal wireless adapter. Can we go wireless and see if that helps?

    Disconnecting every 15 precise minutes

    Well first of all I would visit the Netgear site and look to see if there is a recent firmware update available, firmware can fix a lot of issues.

    Then I would set your Xbox ip address to auto

    Turn off any port forwarding on the router

    Enable UPnP on the router

    Restart the router and Xbox and try again

    I can not connect to xbox live yet when i test my connection it's fine,

    I had this issue with a old POE netgear switch, i swapped it for an HP and all is fine. Then updated the firmware on the Netgear and it was fine
