Netflix Voice Support - How to Use

Hey - I'm trying to use voice support in Netflix and getting quite confused about this whole issue.

When I open Netflix, there is no voice support (other than to say Xbox Play, Xbox Pause etc during playback). When I navigate menus, I can see no way to use voice commands. Saying Xbox Select brings up the icon, but there is no green or white text to say,
nothing. Saying GO Back, Next Page etc., does nothing. In the navigation menu, if I simply say Xbox (which normally brings up a list of popular commands) then nothing happens.

Can someone please help with this, as other people in these forums tell me it works fine, I can see other forums saying the same thing. I have just uninstalled and re-installed the app and it's exactly the same. Any ideas?

Xbox Support - I could really use some support on this one. Having now discussed in some other forums where people have responded quite quick, it is clear that I have a different version of the Netflix app to everyone else. They all tell me about various
voice commands and the visual cues on screen, which I do not have access to at all.

Please help

 

Have you tried deleting the app and downloading again to rule out an error with it? Additionally you can run through the kinect set up again to see if there are issues there.

 

Yes I have tried re-installing and have set up Kinnect several times.

The issue is the app - either the voice support in navigation is blocked or I have a different version of the app for some reason.

This is not the end of the world, but I am not happy that I am paying for HW and Online service and getting a different experience to everyone else in the world it seems. I have not heard 1 comment come back on any forum that anyone else has this problem
but me.

Sorry to hear about the voice command issue!

When you navigate to the app by saying "Xbox, go to Netflix", you should see commands such as "Profile 1" or "Select 1,2,3,4, etc" for each Movie or Show tile within the app. You should also see a menu pop up at the bottom with a small list of commands such
as "Show more", "Next List", "Exit Netflix". When doing this, the boxes just highlight white, not green and white.

With the Netflix app open, try to get these options to pop up by saying "Xbox, go to Netflix" rather than "Xbox", and let me know if you see the same thing I mentioned. If you see something different, please post back pictures to help us better understand
the issue. Thanks!

I have just tried with "Xbox go to Netflix" and the result is the same - I see the profile page, but no commands such as Profile 1 or Select 1,2,3,4 etc. Just the normal profile page, with no other options. Only way to select is to use my controller.

I am trying to upload pics, but when I do I get an error "Only URLs and files with valid file extensitions are allowed" - this is after selecting a small JPG file from my computer to upload. WHen I do this, I see a green "uploaded" symbol, and then this
error, and hte "Insert" button is greyed out. WIll post this and try in a new post. Trying to show a combo of saying "Xbox go to Netflix" and "Xbox Select" (which in other apps, brings up options on screen in green) and also just "Xbox" (which in other apps,
shows various usable commands, however, in Netflix, I just see the standard commands, no Netflix specific ones).

 

No I have tried all manner of things, and the file upload option for pictures on this forum is not working.

Can I send pics to another email address, or can you maybe login to my Xbox to find out what is happening? I#ve seen in other threads Xbox Support have sent a PM that allows them to do some diagnostics?

Can you tell me how I can completely uninstall and re-install the Netflix app? It seems that when I uninstall it simply removes it from my App selection, but does not remove the installation file. If I try to re-download I am sure it is simply re-installing
the original file, and not downloading a new one?

Is there a way to manually check for app updates?

 

Sorry to keep stacking up replies but I have just gone into the App Store and can clearly see when I choose the Netflix App, that it says "Release Date 22/11/13".

I have read on several forums that this voice support was only just added last year, so why is it that I am offered a app version that is 1.5 years old?? Please tell me how I can overcome this?

 

What region are you physically located in? That may factor into it as the voice commands would be programmed on Netflix's end.

If you uninstall the App, it would still keep the app's tile in the 'Ready to install' section as more of a reminder that you own the app.

As far as pictures on our forums go, normally URL links from 'OneDrive' or any other picture hosting site will do.

Post back with what region you are physically located in so we can get to bottom of this!

 

I'm physically located in Norway using the UK servers. Tried changing to US location and had access to new apps, but Netflix still showed the same release date.

I am considering doing a factory reset, though others have told me they are also on UK servers and have access to a Netdlix app with voice support. The region surely just affects te content, not the app itself?

 

A factory reset may not end up resolving this issue, and we suggest having all of the internet settings and console region set to your locale for the best experience.

I will get in touch with Netflix. The question still remains to XBox though - why am I seeing a Netflix app with a release date of 1.5 years when there have been several updates since?

Surely MS can answer this question, as you are providing the distribution?
