NetFlix - Using Voice Support

Hey - I'm trying to use voice support in Netflix and getting quite confused about this whole issue.

When I open Netflix, there is no voice support (other than to say Xbox Play, Xbox Pause etc during playback). When I navigate menus, I can see no way to use voice commands. Saying Xbox Select brings up the icon, but there is no green or white text to say,
nothing. Saying GO Back, Next Page etc., does nothing. In the navigation menu, if I simply say Xbox (which normally brings up a list of popular commands) then nothing happens.

Can someone please help with this, as other people in these forums tell me it works fine, I can see other forums saying the same thing. I have just uninstalled and re-installed the app and it's exactly the same. Any ideas? Thanks!

Anniversary update broke the Netflix voice commands

The Netflix voice commands are not working in Netflix since the update. Voice works everywhere else. This isn't the first time an update has done this to Netflix on my system. Is anyone using voice successfully in Netflix since the update?

try these there for 360 but should work

Xbox, on

Xbox, go to Netflix

Xbox, select....profile one

Xbox, select....say name of option on screen

Options on the Netflix main menu screen are:

Search (I don't think you search using voice, you still need the controller for this page. You have choose each letter from the line at the top. It seems like an archaic search method...at least give us a QWERTY keyboard!?)

Change Profile

Browse Kids

Select 1-3 (items you have previously watched and can continue)

More 1 (an expanded list of your previously watched items)

Select 4-9 (items saved to "My List")

More 2 (an expanded list of items in "My List")

Next/previous screen (the item numbers reset and start from Select 1 on each subsequent page. Each category has a More option too)

When a video is actually playing, the voice controls I have worked out so far are:

Xbox, pause/play

Xbox, volume up/volume down/mute/unmute (if you have set up your Xbox to switch on and control the volume of your TV or AVR. On my AVR the volume changes by two with each volume commands. Repeat as necessary)

Xbox, rewind/fast forward (repeating each of these will double the rewind/fast forward speed up to a maximum of 128x)

Xbox, go back (to return to the Netflix main menu)

At the end of an episode:

Xbox, select....play (to launch the next episode or wait 20 seconds for it to start automatically)

Xbox, select....More Episodes (if you wanted to choose an episode that isn't next in the sequence)

Xbox, select....Rate This Series

Xbox, go back (to return to the Netflix main menu)

 

From the main title screen there is also the "next list" option to scroll through title genres.

 

Thanks guys - This is very strange though - this is only on XBox One I am using, and none of this works. I know my way around the XBox so am sure I'm not doing anything stupid, it just isn't there in my version of the app.

I am wondering if there is some reason for this - outdated app, not part of the Update Program or something?

When you guys say "Xbox Select" in the main Netflix navigation page, do you get any commands appearing on screen (either in green or white), as I see nothing? I have posted this on the support page but they seem very slow to respond so hoping someone here
might have a quicker answer!

When I use it I don't say "xbox select". I just use the commands on there own "next list" "previous list" "select one" I only use the "xbox" prefix for "play" "pause" "fast forward" etc

 

Yeah, when I say Xbox select in Netflix, I get a black bar at the bottom with "next list/show more" and whatnot in white text, and the videos on the screen have little black bars that have "select 1/2/3/4/5" in green text. The app should automatically update,
but I remember using voice commands a long time ago, so it's not a new feature, maybe try deleting and reinstalling, do you have other media apps you can test when, maybe it's a problem with the Xbox and not the app.

 

OK in that case something is not right - If I say those commands above nothing happens. If I say XBox Select then only the Xbox Select symbol in the top-right appears, there are no additional pop ups of text within Netflix itself (as what happens with Skype
for example, where lots of options appear on screen).

So the question remains - why on earth do I have a different version of the Netflix app than everyone else? I just uninstalled and re-installed this morning and nothing changed.

 

Do voice commands work in Crackle?

 

No wonder you accused me of it being in my imagination!

 

Does other voice commands work ,in other apps ?.

Have you tried setting up kinnect again ..?.

Just a suggestion , I don't have netflix .

 

@Genchy Haha yeah, sorry about that I did feel like I was going a bit crazy!

@Others - not heard of crackle, but voice support works perfectly well in Skype, TED, Media Player (which aside from being a terrible app, has the best voice support of all). It's just Netflix that I seem to have a totally different experience to everyone
else.

Does anyone know if maybe there is different apps supplied for different regions? Could my XBox not be up to date for some reason (I have tried checking for updates but it says there are none)?

 

Crackle is just a free movie app, what region do you live in?

 

Norway, though using UK/European servers as that is all that's available to me.
