Netflix update is terrible

PLIZ Microsoft bring back the old uppate is was better this uppate is just wrong and ungly

 

I completely agree...this is one of worst interface changes I've experienced and makes using Netflix worse.

- The app takes much longer to load...so long that kinect voice commands time out before it even gets to the profile selection page.

- You now have a more limited view of shows when browsing. Instead of having the categories with the large grid views with many icons on screen, we now have these skinny little rows that only show 5 icons at once and require way more scrolling in all directions.
It's slower to view everything and tedious to return to certain categories and items.

- The extremely convenient "continue watching" column is gone. Now to resume playing a show/series you have to manually scroll through the category lists to wherever it happens to be located.

- The option to start a show from the beginning is gone so now you have to manually rewind it and wait like an old VHS tape.

- Voice commands are more limited and can't be used to access areas and items that they previously did (such as the details page of a show that has the play, add to list, more episodes, rate, etc options). You can't use them during a show to select subtitles,
etc.

-The voice command prompts on the screen are way too obstructive. They have large black bars behind them and cover up the entire bottom row/category as well as the bottom of the current category's titles, often blocking the show title and other info from
view. They also aren't displayed in the standard green font which is a little off putting.

- The smartglass remote has been removed. You can still use the general XB1 remote on smartglass but Netflix used to have the little play, ff, rw buttons along with the timeline bar and that is now gone with this version.

For the record my wife absolutely hates it as well. She got very used to just using voice with the system..."xbox go to netflix", "profile 2", "item 1"(which was always conveniently there because of the "continue watching" column. It was very straightforward,
quick, and easy. Now it's "go to netflix" and wait much longer for the profile page to appear. Then it's "xbox select" because it took so long the voice timed out", then it's "profile 2" then you're at the home screen and have to go on a wild goose chase
of voice commands to manually navigate scroll through the category rows to find wherever the show happens to be located. Also unlike before where voice could be used to get around almost everywhere, she is now forced to reach for the remote to get to certain
screens and select options. That defeats much of the purpose of voice commands in the first place.

Sorry for the rant but Netflix on the XB1 is a heavily used app for my household and this redesign is horrible to the point of frustration and makes the whole experience more cumbersome and less enjoyable...hate it!

 

So I just found out that a lot of the controller functions don't work either....

-You can't use the triggers to fast-forward or rewind anymore

-you can't use the bumpers to skip anymore

Why would you take those away? I just don't understand, updates are usually supposed to get better not worse. This wasn't even a little worse, this is a WHOLE LOT worse!

 

When I try to snap the new Netflix while I'm playing a game the netflix stream freezes. The sound still plays but the video freezes. Anyone else having this problem??

There are a lot more issues with this update. Honestly its extremely embarrassing how much of step back it is.

 

Not to mention when using SmartGlass there is no longer on screen keyboard support when in the Netflix search menu.

There needs to be a detailed change log of features lost.

Almost feels like Microsoft designed the first Netflix app on their behalf (and did a damn good job), and this feels like Netflix wrote the latest update on their own (poorly).

 

Gonna gave to agree with the consensus here: It's a pretty terrible update. Why they thought removing the kinect voice functionality was a good idea is beyond me. The scrolling interface is ugly as well as cumbersome to use. They had a real good thing going
for them from a design standpoint and now they've gone and completely *** it up. Microsoft/Netflix need to fix this and fast!

 

The xbox media remote won't even work with the update. Just awful.

 

I agree with everything here. The previous version had a clear, cohesive design language. It was easy to navigate, it was easy to add things to my list, options were easily available both in video and outside it, we could pin individual shows and films before,
we could navigate properly with voice and gestures so so on.

This update is a complete downgrade more than anything, there is nothing to look about this. The old 360 design wasn't a pillar upholding a design standard we should all hope to achieve. It was bad and we coped with it then because that's all there was.
This new one feels sluggish, it's much harder to navigate and it's devoid of the elegance the previous version held.

It's entirely baffling to me that they made this decision and more so that the people responsible were happy enough with their work to put a stamp on it and push it out as an update. They've destroyed the user experience here for what I can only assume was
blind, personal pride getting in the way of them being able to accept using another company's design standard.

I'd love to be somewhat positive about this but I honestly can't be, this decision was very clearly not in the interests of it's users. This version needs to be scrapped entirely and they need to bring back the previous version we all loved. Until they do,
I refuse to use Netflix on my Xbox One and unfortunately, that means I won't be using it much at all.

 

Okay, Microsoft, probably not your fault, but yell at the idiots at Netflix. Those morons have broke the amazing user experience that was on Xbox One. Honestly I hate this new UI, the last one was soooooo good and it was easy to use, easy to maneuver around,
and more. The new UI is confusing, doesn't allow for information easily, all the buttons seem to do random things and there isn't any UI to tell you what the controller can do. The Kinect doesn't work well anymore. Tell those stupid morons at Netflix to get
their crap together and change it back to the old UI.

 

You guys are talking about the xbox one issues. My question is what changed to mess up the 360. I can't stay connected it kicks me out every 15 to 30 min. Is this a netflix issue or microsoft?

 

They did this to save money, as if we don't pay enough. They don't want to pay for the extra people or time needed to work on a different ui. So all ui are being made the same across all systems. It's out right lazy and a waste of what was perfect to begin
with. It's also a complete downgrade, video and audio quality is reduced all around, it takes forever to load in the beginning, you can't find anything as easy due to not being able to see it in columns and rows, and last it is ugly. I recommend you complain
to Netlix as I have, otherwise they'll think doing stuff like this to paying customers is ok.

 

I work in retail and I always praise the Kinect because I am able to watch TV all day without a remote. I am not comfortable to do so with this latest update, this is a major step back.

I load up Netflix and I cannot:

1. Select a profile with my voice

2. effectively navigate through the horrible new UI.

3. The voice controls while watching video seem very broken, "Xbox Rewind" seems buggy and works in 4 second intervals.

All the flow and ease has been removed and it does not feel as modern. I don't feel like this is an HD app on the Xbox One anymore. It feels like a poorly-thought app on a cheap smart-TV.

ROLLBACK THE UPDATE MICROSOFT!

 

Anyone know how to provide official feedback to Netflix?

 

I agree with everyone, very bad update.

 

The update removed most the fuctionality of voice comand and made kenitic all but useless. Xbox please give us a way to navigate between shows, with just voice comands. Or just let us go back to the old version. It honestly work better.
