Netflix update is terrible

What on earth have you/Netflix done to the Netflix app on the Xbox One? As others have already said it's broken basic functionality like Smartglass and snap, and removed the Xbox media user interface for some horrible Netflix specific one that looks like
it was taken from a mobile phone app, not a 1080p home console. The rolling ribbons are a pain to navigate and now on average give less information per screen than before. In general it all looks like something upscaled from 720p, not the nice crisp Modern
app we used to have.

The Netflix experience from day one has been one of my favourite parts of the One and far superior to what Amazon were providing, really not impressed by these changes.

Do you need an HBO subscription to use HBO GO?

And the update to netflix made it terrible to navegate.

I'm in the same boat... HBO GO quality is terrible, even after the update. I'm getting 25DL/25/UL speeds and it still isn't HD.. don't have this issue with the Netflix app at all.

 

Kinect integration also being reported as broken.

Doesn't look or feel like an Xbox One app anymore. Shame.

 

I agree, I bought a Xbox One so i could use the new features on a newer, cleaner system. NOT to use the same crap interface from the 360.

All gesture controls are gone for me, anything I do, Voice or controller, is delayed by seconds. The one before this update was great, fast to respond to voice and super easy to navigate. this update has taken it all the way back to the stone age. Very uncool.

 

Unacceptable. Nearly all Kinect functionality is lost.

 

They totally ruined the app. Its slower to boot up, works poorly with voice control (still no "next episode" option), and freezes/loses kinect functions when in snap mode. Its a HUGE step backwards for what was my favorite app and function on the console.

 

Xbox Select now brings up no options. I don't pick up my controller unless I'm playing games, so if this remains I'll be unsubscribing from Netflix.

 

Agreed with what has been said already. The lack of Kinect integration is pathetic.

 

I agree fully. The kinect voice navigation was simple and very convenient before, and now it barely exists. I enjoyed being able to turn on the xbox, go to netflix, navigate to a show or movie I wanted to watch, all without even having a clue where my
controller was.

Now, I have grab the controller, turn it on, and navigate that way.

This is a step backwards for sure. I can get used to the new scrolling design, but please bring back some voice functionality.

 

I immediately came on here tobpost about this. The new update is absolutely terrible. I used to love being able to navigate almost all of netflix using my voice and now almost every voice command is gone. It's like we went back to the xbox 360 kinect. I
really really hope this gets fixed soon. It doesn't even feel like xbox anymore, it doesnt have that tile theme. I actually think the way it is now in the update is how it is on the wii. I don't like it and I miss the old version.

 

I actually can't see myself using this app without voice support. I only ever pick up my controller to game. The only other app with poor voice integration was Youtube, but at least I can throw videos at it via my phone or tablet. I'll be unsubscribing from
Netflix if this isn't fixed quickly.

 

This is ridiculous.. I was so loving the "Xbox go to Netflix, profile 1, select 1" to watch my shows. As the original poster mentioned the new interface on the console is atrocious.. Navigating the menu is such a pain now. The voice navigation and gesture
controls not working don't help. Even if these functions were working properly the interface if no longer user friendly.

The ONLY improvement (I think cause I just noticed it and it may have been there before) is when it's counting down to the next episode it shows the "S01E13" is on the image.

Is this changed initiated by Microsoft or Netflix or a joint venture by both?

 

Okay so it looks like Netflix is behind the change. Something to do with their new 'social recommendation' feature. Ugh this better improve. I am not enjoying this update at all..

 

The Kinect integration is completely horrible. The navigation is nearly impossible. They need to get this fixed or this is going to be a big issue.
