My new xbox one shuts down when i try to watch netflix, amazon, trailers to games/movies (I guess anything having to do with streaming). I can play my game just fine with no problems. Internet connection is good. ive tried all the resets described here
and tried a different outlet, to no avail. Even put it in power saving mode and turned always on off. Any other fixes that anyone knows of?

  2. Started having the same problem. First experienced it with HBO GO, and now Netflix. I had to go out and buy a Chromecast so I can still watch stuff on my TV until this is fixed.

This is a Microsoft issue for sure, because it's more than one streaming app. Also, the ENTIRE CONSOLE shuts down. No app should be able to bring down the console, especially since they're all running stupid Javascript programs which Microsoft makes them
    do.

Seriously, there are enough complaints about this that it should be looked into. Hopefully it's just a firmware issue, cause it wasn't happening before.

  3. Hey there Trey311 and Varbag!

Sorry to hear that the issue is continuing to occur. Let's try a few additional troubleshooting steps to see if we can get this issue sorted:

    • First, from the Dashboard press the Menu button on your Xbox One controller.
    • Select settings and then select Disc & Blu-ray.
    • Under Blu-ray, select Persistent storage.
    • Select Clear Persistent Storage.
    • Once you have cleared persistent storage, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
    • Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
    • Wait 5 minutes and then plug in your console.
    • Power on your console and try opening the Netflix app.
If the issue continues, you can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the Netflix app as well. Give the suggested steps a try and let us know how it goes!

    Netflix shuts down my console.

I was having the same issue, but it is not only Netflix (BTW - connected through wireless). I tried watching a game trailer and the same thing happened. It appears streaming of any kind has the same issue. Tried Mister Quimby's steps above and it does
    not fix it.

I then hardwired the console and tried Netflix and the problem seems to be solved. So I'm wondering if this is an issue with the wireless equipment in the console. I am not having any issues with my other wireless devices, so it doesn't appear to be my
    router.

I've had the same issue for the last month. Netflix, HBO go, and Amazon all would shut off my Xbox one during the middle of video streaming. I contacted Xbox support multiple times and tried many things to get this to stop. I even took it to the Microsoft
store. The technician said he had never heard of this issue and ended up giving me a new Xbox one. I took it home turned dexter on and within 30 sec my Xbox shut off again. I read this thread and followed the steps here and was able to watch all shows without
    a problem.

-unplugged my router and left off for 5 min

    -powered off and unplugged Xbox

-Ethernet cable from router to Xbox

    Power everything back on

  6. I was having this same exact issue. With Netflix and HBO GO. I switched to a wired connection and it seemed to help the issue. HOWEVER... I still get stuttering video when streaming from HBO GO. Has there been an official fix for this?

    Netflix shuts down my console.

To the mod on the thread you can keep posting the steps to clear cache and reset power supply all you want but that won't fix the problem. I've done all of this and replaced my xbox one with a brand new one from gamestop and it still has the same issue.
What needs to be fixed is the application not the console. Something somewhere in the app is an issue that no one wants to spend the time to fix clearly. It is beyond annoying. I've spent minimum an hour on the phone then another 6+ hours setting up 2 consoles
and re-downloading games because this issue is so elusive that the only answer anyone has for it is get a new console or try clearing the cache everytime you want to use the console for anything other than gaming. My system has shut down 4 times in the last
20 minutes and multiple times before that, the thing is only 2 months old. Stop and think about this Microsoft, fix the issue and then tell us to update the app so this problem is over with finally.

Power cycling the console and clearing the cache are suggested steps and should be the first thing to try. If you believe the issue lies with the apps then you'll need to contact the app companies themselves (ie. Netflix, HBO GO, etc) to let them know there
    are issues with them.

I have been having the same issue as the others who posted. I have tried contacting microsoft support several times, and always get the same answer of "power cycle the console", and "clear the cache". The last time I contacted support, the individual helping
me actually disconnected after walking me through the basic troubleshooting steps. I also took my console into gamestop and had it exchanged for a new one, and the issue continued to persist. I have tried all of the steps above, and none have worked. I do
not believe this is an issue with netflix, as it works perfectly on my computer. I believe this is an issue with Microsoft, and their customer support has done absolutely nothing to fix the issue besides spouting the same b.s. again and again about hard resetting
    the console.

  11. Hey, everyone! I am very sorry to see any issues with the apps. While your app may work on a different device, it was still created by those owners. If the troubleshooting steps do not resolve it for you, please contact the creator of that app so that they
can look into what may causing issues with their app.

This thread is a bit old. If you need assistance with any other support issue, please post up a new thread detailing what you're running into and troubleshooting you've completed. This way our community can get you the individual support that works best
on the forums. Netflix shuts down my console. :)

    Hey KNEELB4ZOD1979!

Sorry to hear that the issue is continuing to occur. Does this issue only happen with the Netflix app? If you haven't already, I recommend trying to reset your networking hardware as well.

    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
    • Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
    • Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem or gateway for five minutes.
    • After you have waited five minutes, plug in your router, modem or gateway and console.
    • Power on your console and load the Netflix app to see if the issue continues.
Try the steps above and let us know how it goes!

Sorry to hear about the Netflix issue. To add on to the steps that Onyx has provided above, I also recommend uninstalling and reinstalling
the Netflix app. Once you have have reinstalled the app, try power cycling your console again to see if the issue continues to occur.
