Netflix: No UHD on XBOX One S

I called support and was told that the Netflix app does support the UHD titles but you need 30mbps. First off, use your Netflix tv app for the 4K content. Xbox's system is so messed up its not worth the trouble. I had 20mbps in 2015 and I was able to
stream Breaking Bad, House of Cards, and all other shows in 4K. I now have 30mbps and still can stream the 4K content directly on my tv through the app. However, there is some kink in the Xbox that slows you down or requires internet speed beyond what is
necessary. My NAT is open and I just ran a speed test and I'm clocking in at 25.8mbps, so I should get UHD on the Xbox, when I'm getting it through my LG 4K tv. Now something is messed up with Xbox and I won't be using it for Netflix, obviously. What another
let down by Xbox- including the inability to rent or but digital UHD rentals of new movies. There's a 3D Blu-Ray rental site that rents UHD Blu-Ray movies too on a per movie basis. Just google 3D blu-Ray rental and u csn rent UHD movies, since my Xbox One
has the inability to stream UHD from Netflix, Amazon, nor rent new UHD movies on a downloadable basis for around $7-8. If Sony does it right, I may jump ship due to no yearly membership cost snd possibly new UHD movies available to rent or purchase. I'll
wait to see if Xbox csn turn things around by then, why, oh why has Xbox launched its past two consoles in a stage that still isn't finalized?

 

My connection is 300Mbit down/20Mbit up. I can use the Roku 4's Netflix app fine and get content in 4k, but the XBOX One S is in a different room and used on a different TV. I usually keep my Roku in the bedroom on my old 1080p Samsung.

 

My internet connection is 300Mbit down/20Mbit up, so speed isn't the issue for me. I can run 4k Netflix just fine along with Prime Video on my Roku 4. My TV is not 4k @ 60Hz but it can do 4k at 50Hz, 30Hz, and 24Hz. I have tested this through my Roku
4 and Android TV box. However, the XBOX One S says my TV fails everything. I am not sure how it determines what it does but it is clearly flawed! My Dashboard may not be displayed at 4k due to the 60Hz limitation but YouTube, Vudu, Prime Video, and Netflix
should all run fine in 4k with no issues at all. UHD Blu-Ray discs should also play fine natively at 4k. Out of everything I have tried, I can't get a single one of them to even scale up to 4k. I do not have a UHD Blu-Ray disc to try and going out to buy
one seems like a waste with how disappointing this One S experiences has turned out to be so far.

 

Just to make sure... everyone has updated apps? Allow 4k and allow 24hz is checked under advanced video settings? Color depth set to 10 bit? and TV res set to 4k UHD?

Im having no problem getting 4K through Netflix and youtube. What is everyones service provider?

 

That's the issue right there, Prezdead! My TV auto detects the resolution being put out by the source and sets it accordingly. There is no way to set my TV's HDMI input to display a certain resolution regardless of what the source is putting out. My Android
box and Roku 4 put out a 4k signal when I enable the resolution they should output is 4k. Unfortunately, The XBOX One S doesn't seem to do that.

When I do the video test on the XBOX One. My TV doesn't even flicker. It just pops up that it failed everything, which is incorrect. If I change the resolution on the XBOX One S to 720p, then it flickers and my TV changes the display to 720p. If I change
the XBOX One S to display 1080p, then the TV flickers and changes the resolution to 1080p. If I try to change the XBOX One S to display UHD, it does nothing other than go instantly to the failed screen, which states none of the options are supported. Under
Advanced Video Settings though, I have 24Hz, 50Hz, and UHD 4k checked. the problem is, the XBOX One S is putting out the 4k signal because the test says the TV fails everything and the TV will not disaply in 4k until the TV receives a signal from the XBOX
One S to display in 4k.

 

I may have missed it... but is it directly plugged into you tv or through a receiver? And if plugged into your tv is it plugged into the 4K ARC HDMI port?

 

I have tried both and yes.

I am starting to wonder if my console is busted. If I had another TV to try it on that did 4k, that would confirm it. I can get 4k running on other devices but not a single instance of 4k out of the XBOX One S.

 

Anyone else with netflix app ditectky on their 4K tv, when launched has a 4K caregory w/all the 4K titles thet netflix offers in one place? Not on xbox- me ne say 4K IHD by the end itle of the content. Jerry McGuire was 4K- ifk if its still available.
So, if anyone says Xbix's Netflic spp is displaying uhd titles, theyre lying. I have 30mbps but just ran a wireless speed test and i got 26.9 down and 6.4 upload.

I had the same issue on my sony xbr65x850a. Ultra ud wasn't showing up on 4k titles even with 35 down. I tried a bunch of stuff here but the thing that worked for me was to use a different HDMI port. I came across the link below and found that my hdmi
port #4 was setup for HDCP 2.2.

Xbox set to output uhd 4K !!!

Here is what to do HDMI kable in HDCP 2.2 port HDMI (MHL)!!!

If xbox is not in that port no netflix in 4K . HDCP is 'High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection' this port is used for copyright protected video.

Ok I know this is a old Post and old problem but I spent a few hours with Xbox tech and we figured it out for me at least. I was running hdmi 2.2 or what I thought. I was getting HDR 10 while playing blue ray on Xbox S. Yet got a black screen on gears of
war or Netflix if I had HDR checked off. Everything was green in settings yet still black screen on HDR content even though blue ray would play in HDR 10. So long story short the cheap looking hdmi cable that came with the Xbox S fixed everything. Now Netflix
plays in HDR 10 and so does the games like gears of war wish it was longer but just glad it works now.

 

I’m about to purchase the RoKu 4 today because I’ve been having same issues with Xbox One S not delivering 4K to my TV or Reciver that is 4k/2.2 and all the other ridiculous HDMI communal crap, That’s why I’ve purchased a $500 XBox One S because the processor
inside should be able to calibrate what ever kind of 4K TV I have and be compatible for it. But I’m reading this thread and hoping I see solutions before I get to the end, you should definitely be able to see UHDBluray in 4K so try setting bit rate to 24 bit
per pixel (8-bit) in color depth option then turn on Allow 24Hz/Allow 4K/Allow 3D and I’ve even turn Allow YCC 4:2:2 option the pop in UHDBluray and you should see 4K play out to your TV. But still no 4K from Netflix or Amazon that why I’m up researching for
a solution but my only solution so far is that I have to buy Roku 4 to watch 4K Netflix and Amazon Prime RIDICULOUS. IF I can watch 4K UHDBluray on my Xbox One S because I switch my color depth to 24 bit per pixel (8-bit) then Microsoft has to put in a calibration
that sets everything to 24 bit per pixel (8-bit).
