Netflix: No UHD on XBOX One S

I have an XBOX One S, I have a 4k TV, and I have a Netflix UHD plan. However, I can't get any of the content to play in 4k/UHD. I have not been able to set the console into UHD mode because of the asinine way the thing detects 4k instead of just outputting
a 4k signal and timing out for non-compatible TV's. That aside, the Blu-Ray player and Netflix app are still supposed to work in 4k, even if the dashboard isn't in 4k. How do I get Netflix working in 4k?

    :)

Having the same issue, Epson 5040ub w/ Xbox One S, HDR isn't working on anything (UHD, Netflix, games) despite receiver and all cables being HDMI 2.0a / 4K HDR supported spec.

Displaying Netflix in 24hz on XBOX ONE S

    Hi,

I would like to ask if anyone was successfully able to display Netflix on an XBOX ONE S in 24hz.

My XBOX ONE S converts 24hz to 60hz when watching netflix.

Playing UHD disks works fine and they display in 4K, HDR and in 24hz.

Also standard Full HD blurays display in 24hz.

Only Netflix displays in 4K, HDR but converted to 60hz.

Your help or advice is much appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Martin

I went through all of that before even posting. My guess it is related to not being able to get the dashboard into UHD because my TV auto detects the resolution being put out by the source. The XBOX One S doesn't put out a 4k signal until it thinks your
TV can, but there have been a number of complaints with TV's, like mine, which fail the 4k test even though it meets all of the requirements.

  6. It took me a minute to figure out how to set the One S into 4k mode. How I went about it. I do agree with the set up process is very frustrating... I can't exactly remember how I did it but it was along the lines of setting it the output to 1080, then under
the calibrate section, checked (turned on) the "enable 4k" box, then went back to the output and switched to 4K, then under the same area where you checked the 4k box, check (turn on ) the HDR, 24hz and whatever else your TV supports. I hope this is a start
or a finish to your solution.

Is there a way to see resolution played back at? I press info when watching the martian and it says HEVC as codec and in the video output settings on the xbox it says: Tv Resolution: 4K UHD. Color depth: 30 bits per pixel (10 bits) color space: standard.
Under advanced settings 24Hz is checked. Allow 4K and 3D ate also checked.

Netflix: No UHD on XBOX One S

I can verify this issue...Netflix UHD does not work on Xbox One S. I have a Vizio M55-D0 with the latest firmware enabling HD10 support. My TV is now recognized by the One S video settings as 4K HDR capable. I am able to enable HDR support and it works beautifully
with the Blu-Ray app (Mad Max 4K Blu Ray playing 4K, 24fps, HDR as verified by the Vizio settings app). However when I start Netflix, the screen flashes, colors mute, and video fails to switch to HDR or 24fps. Netflix app is clearly broken right now for HDR.
If I switch HDR off on the One S, Netflix app is fine, plays 4K correctly, colors are fine obviously no HDR.

I'm going to say the same for the Prime Video app. I know specific things are available in 4k but I can only view them in HD from my XBOX One S.

At least your XBOX One S tries to switch into 4k for Netflix, DeeSass. Mine doesn't even make an attempt. It's kind of sad how broken this stuff is! I have owned every XBOX back to the original and have never been as disappointed with a version of the
console as I have been with the One S!

Firebird, yes it's clear there is an attempt at a mode switch because the screen goes dark and re-initializes but like I said the Netflix app then displays very muted colors like its expecting to output HDR but half the color data is missing. If I back out
to the dashboard, the off-color stays. But if I then quit Netflix, the screen display re-initialized and colors are back to normal.

Clearly the Netflix app believes it is in HDR mode because HDR-enabled titles are clearly labeled as such when I have my One S in HDR mode. If I disable HDR, then the Netflix app no longer displays the HDR label on compatible titles. Only 4K UltraHD. So
the app is trying but something is off.

I know others are having a similar issue...there is a Reddit thread about Netflix displaying muted colors on Xbox One S in HDR mode. So it's not just us.

Would be nice to get an official word on this and hear that a fix is coming. I can tell you that Mad Max looks incredible with HDR enabled. I wasn't sure how much of a difference it would make, the the clarity and contrast on the colors is night-and-day
vs HDR turned off. Would be very nice to have Netflix working properly as well.
