  1. Netflix contrast and picture blown out (HDR)

Since the most latest update for Netflix I've noticed the picture and contrast is blown out.

At first I though they had a poor stream of Madagascar but I've since realised this problem affects the App as a whole.

They probably did this to address the fact the the app UI is, or was rather dark while in HDR mode but this update is 10x worse there is too much contrast and way too much brightness, picture is blown out like I say and in some cases this also leads to pixilation.

If someone was really finding the browsing and navigating UI to dark in it's previous form they could have just changed the HDR mode on their TV or turned up brightness while browsing, on my TV I would usually change it form "HDR Bright" to "HDR Vivid" a quick
and simple fix. HDR Vivid also being the best for viewing non-hdr content on Netflix in my opinion. But now this update has messed all that up.

Thanks Netflix, you really know how to update your software.

If only you could go back to how Netflix displayed before the most recent update, that'd be great.

    :)

HDR on LG OLED - dull and washed out

Every time HDR kicks in on my console on forza, UHD blurays or Netflix the image becomes dull, dark and washed out.

The tv plays HDR perfectly fine using the tv's built In Netflix app. I've tried all picture modes on the tv I.e vivid, game, odd etc and All do the same with hdr content from the console. I note that the last firmware update states part of it was to fix
washed out images using HDR on certain tv's. Could it be my one has slipped through the net?

Netflix: No UHD on XBOX One S

Firebird, yes it's clear there is an attempt at a mode switch because the screen goes dark and re-initializes but like I said the Netflix app then displays very muted colors like its expecting to output HDR but half the color data is missing. If I back out
to the dashboard, the off-color stays. But if I then quit Netflix, the screen display re-initialized and colors are back to normal.

Clearly the Netflix app believes it is in HDR mode because HDR-enabled titles are clearly labeled as such when I have my One S in HDR mode. If I disable HDR, then the Netflix app no longer displays the HDR label on compatible titles. Only 4K UltraHD. So
the app is trying but something is off.

I know others are having a similar issue...there is a Reddit thread about Netflix displaying muted colors on Xbox One S in HDR mode. So it's not just us.

Would be nice to get an official word on this and hear that a fix is coming. I can tell you that Mad Max looks incredible with HDR enabled. I wasn't sure how much of a difference it would make, the the clarity and contrast on the colors is night-and-day
vs HDR turned off. Would be very nice to have Netflix working properly as well.

  4. Netflix contrast and picture blown out (HDR)

Update: Last time I used the Netflix app I didn't seem to experience this problem. So it's not a bug that happens all the time.

Although to be noted is the fact that I've never experienced the problem I've mentioned before the latest update. It feels a bit like it could be caused by the HDMI splitter and not the app,

but I'm not entirely onboard with that Idea as I've said this problem hasn't reared it's head prior to the latest update.

Really not sure what the is the legitimate cause of this it really is quite strange.

I guess I could test using netflix without the splitter (direct to the tv) to see if the problem occurs at all then, if I can be bothered.

XB1 slim and non HDR TV

    Hi PricelessBunion,

If you have a 4K TV you'll still be able to take advantage of the higher resolution provided by the Xbox One. HDR is a boost to your TV display's contrast ratio. So basically if your TV is HDR you'll see a big picture quality difference than you would with
    just a standard 4K TV.

    HDR

    Hi JayJoe1,

So there is no difference, you enable HDR on your TV then your console will auto enable it when you play HDR content, otherwise if you play a game or a video that does not support HDR it will not enable HDR. Like Darkist1 said the picture especially in shows
on Netflix will appear a lot darker, this is the HDR showing more colors, you can try adjust your picture while watching a HDR video to try improve this to your liking.
