    Netflix app dynamic resolution is junk on X1


    Watching Netflix on X1 is a lot worse than on Chromecast. The X1 likes to display a blurry picture for the first minute or two. It actually starts steaming at .1Mbps. When streaming on a Chromecast connected to the same switch and TV. It starts at at least
    a full Mbps. This is on a 100/20 connection. I mean the app should be at least as good on a 600$ Xbox one X as it is on a $54 chromecast WTF MS?

    I'll throw my input as well. Just signed up for Netflix and streaming TV Shows seems to do it in HD resolution. I then watched 1 HD Movie and parts of another one. Neither movie, despite being HD, showed up in HD resolution. It was was pixelated mess.

    I then opened up my PS4 Netflix App and after about 20 secs, the movies started playing in HD quality. Tested my internet via X1 diagnostics and says I'm running at 35 Mbps so I'm good there. So there definitely seems to be something up with the X1 Netflix
    app. While I have Amazon Prime, I don't believe I've watched anything yet on it to verify if the issue is there as well.

    On a side note, the audio quality from Netflix on the X1 is MUCH better than the PS4.

    Update. My X1 downloaded the update last night and when I went to turn on the X1 it was fully powered down and performed the install. I then tested out Netflix and after the initial buffer it IMMEDIATELY played in HD resolution with no pixelation and it
    frankly looked better than what the PS4 showed. So then I switched out of that and went into a couple games and apps to try and get more stuff running in the background. I then switched back to Netflix and it immediately played back in HD resolution again.


    The other thing I noticed is that going between Home screen tabs was much smoother than last night. So did the updated fix our issue or is it because it's 8am est and no one is using Netflix? Guess, I'll see later today and night.

    Yep, we don't use X1 for Netflix anymore because of buffering. When you bring up info in Netflix on PS4 it has a Super HD resolution that I get without buffering 99% of the time. It looks better than DirectTV but not as good as a bluray.

    For those with Netflix Video Quality Issues, please try this and report your findings.

    I was completely unable to get Netflix to work on my X1. It will launch, login and display the main front page. Select any title, it goes to around 40% then flashes back to the main screen, no video stream at all.

    How the hell did you all get netflix to work at all on the X1. If you did something additional to the steps below, please let me know what you did?

    1) unbox X1

    2) plug in and setup the X1 on the network

    3) login to Xbox Live

    4) download/install Netflix app

    5) launch netflix app

    6) login

    7) play movies

    ???

    Phil Spencer may free apps from XBL Gold.

    Wild, Netflix is a multi platform app...... it can be played anywhere.... if you want NF on X1.... you buy gold membership.... otherwise no Netflix for you!
