Netflix app dims screen when using 4K/HDR

Netflix dims the entire screen on my Xbox One. If I press the guide button, everything is dim but it will return to normal if I quit Netflix or open another app or game. If there anything I can do to fix this?

Example: Xbox One S - Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, so dark you can barely see things. (I do know the color is crushed and color corrected a bit on the blue side due to the way it is filmed)

Retried with a 360 even worse!!!! (I do know that it’s not 4k)

Retried with a Wii U and perfect. (I do know that it’s not 4k)

    Gamer tag: ITHEVILLAIN

    TV: Samsung UN65JU6700FXZA

Xbox One S: HDMI to TV

    Audio: optical to receiver.

    :)

  2. Xbox One S HDR Bug

I am having a similar issue on my Xbox One S connected directly to my Samsung JS8500 tv. When I open the netflix app the screen becomes very dim and the screen doesn't return to normal until the app is quit. HDR content looks great using the Netflix app
on my TV by the way, not dim at all.

Xbox One S screen dims when Netflix is launched

I recently purchased an Xbox One S and have noticed the screen dims when I launch the Netflix app. The dim screen remains, even on the home screen, and only goes away when the Netflix app is totally closed.

From reading other forums, it sounds like it's an HDR issue, but I am curious if there is a solution for this?

    Thanks.

Netflix: No UHD on XBOX One S

I can verify this issue...Netflix UHD does not work on Xbox One S. I have a Vizio M55-D0 with the latest firmware enabling HD10 support. My TV is now recognized by the One S video settings as 4K HDR capable. I am able to enable HDR support and it works beautifully
with the Blu-Ray app (Mad Max 4K Blu Ray playing 4K, 24fps, HDR as verified by the Vizio settings app). However when I start Netflix, the screen flashes, colors mute, and video fails to switch to HDR or 24fps. Netflix app is clearly broken right now for HDR.
If I switch HDR off on the One S, Netflix app is fine, plays 4K correctly, colors are fine obviously no HDR.

Xbox One X HDR dimming problem!

    Hello,

My xbox one x has an issue with loading games in HDR. When a game or netflix starts up. My screen dims dark. Like it fade away. All colours are dark and not bright.

I have a 4K/HDR tv with a 10 bit panel. And it doenst work.

I tried everything. Switching settings from my tv and xbox, hard reset, different HDMI 2.0 port and cabel. Only HDR in 8 bit mode doenst go dark. But I know my TV has an working 10 bit panel that works with other content beside my xbox one x.
Same here. It looks as if you have screen dim on as a power saving feature. The problem with this bug is that dims the screen as soon as you start and play an hdr game or app.

Xbox one S, Netflix dims screen when HDR is enabled

I've had the same issue since the one S came out. The only way to stop the dimming effect is to shut off HDR in the Xbox settings. Not sure if this is an MS issue or a Netflix issue. But seeing as I can cast 4k hdr Netflix from my phone directly to the tv
with no dimming, my money's on MS issue

Xbox Series S - HDR with YCC 4:2:2 Problem

You will see a slight change in colors on your monitor when you turn on HDR. To activate on the console a TV with 4k is required.

I'm not sure why and if that's the main reason or one of the reasons but a 4k TV screen has more nits than a monitor screen and when you turn on HDR the screen dims a bit

So the higher the NITS of the screen, the higher the illumination.
