Netflix *(any video streaming app) causes critical error and system shut down.

Dear Microsoft,

I received my XBO on 12/31/2014 and everything worked fine for the first 3 days; streamed several hours of Netflix, Twitch, Crunchyroll and struggled through an eternity of matchmaking limbo trying to play Halo MC. As of yesterday (01/03/2015) my XBO has
decided that Netflix, Twitch and any other video streaming service should and will immediately cause a critical system error and shut itself down (possibly due to subconscious A.I. fear of the GOP). Several times, after voluntarily shutting itself down from
streaming services, I would just leave my XBO off and do something else and about 15 minutes later it will turn itself back on without me touching the controller or system.

After researching the issue and applying all known remedies (uninstall/reinstall, master reset, power off options, clear cache/persistent storage) the error is still persistent and seemingly more progressive because now it will only allow me to watch about
30 seconds of video before it decides that it is too much to handle. This issue seems to have been around since late 2013 and is still ongoing without indications of a fix coming in the near future.

This is extremely frustrating and disappointing.

Will a fix come in 2015? or 2016? Maybe I should just return it. :'(

Netflix freezes, console restarts

Same here! It has happened while streaming video on the Amazon app and also while streaming using the ESPN app. Freezes and then shuts down. Sometimes it happens after a few seconds or at other times it's after several minutes. No rhyme or reason to it.
And the console is not running hot so I don't know what the problem is.

 

Controller skipping

On any downloaded video streaming app (Netflix, Hulu, history, etc), once the app launches, the selection box always stays on the bottom row. I can't scroll up to select the upper boxes. On Netflix, scrolling up or down causes it to skip every other line
and every other video scrolling left or right. Controls work fine in Xbox video, xbox music, games, etc. It's only on downloaded streaming apps. I have tried both controllers, smartglass on 3 different platforms, and a Xbox remote from eBay. None of them will
allow me to scroll upward on the streaming apps. I also have deleted and redownloaded the apps and still have the same result.

 

Sorry to hear it. I would recommend returning the console to the store for an exchange if you've tried all the support steps available and they have not resolved the issue.
