Discus and support Net Neutrality in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; What do you guys think about the courts decision? It looks to me like greed. MS wants to go digital and this will make going digital useless.... Discussion in 'XBoX on Consoles' started by vikingland1, Jan 16, 2014.

I don't see it impacting gaming but it'll have a huge impact on the TV/Movie apps if the ISP's start throttling to protect their interest. We'll have to wait and see.

But if I want to go full digital 40 GB per game is alot. Do you think they would throttle back my net ?

  6. If things start going down, I'm going to learn to enjoy other things in life...like horticulture, candle making, try out some new bread recipes. I'm going to go to a time before technology and tv.

In the US at least this isn't about bandwidth caps.

I have TWC and I could easily cancel that and watch all my programing on Hulu, Netflix, etc. TWC is also my ISP and to prevent me from doing that they'll simple throttle my connection to Hulu, Netflix, etc and suddenly my only option is back to cable.

At this point the ISP's are saying they won't do it but that's why it's a wait and see type deal.

BIG established companies will be able to push out and marginalize smaller, newer ones. Microsoft will be fine, they fall into the established and big catagory (and if they are charged extra for XBOXLIVE, at least they would be providing something for the
money they charge us, currently they do nothing). What you wont see is much new being developed on the internet anymore, it will continue its slide into a one way content consumption system, just like cable. Big companies make the content and users consumer
    it.

  10. Glad I have no cap. That being said, ISPs need to update their approach with their cost. I looked into wireless net access and the cost were so outragous that I would rather head to a Starbucks or something else than buy the 20Gb service plan (I use 20gb
    in like two days)

i work for a wireless ISP, my company is about the same cost for cable at similar speeds, but in general you do not want to go with a WISP unless you have no other choice, most of the time WISP is not good for gaming.

    ---

i'm concerned about this ruling, some ISP's have stated that they would not throttle traffic, but my cable company has just forced a tiered data plan upon me to squeeze an extra $10 a month out of me and seem like the type of company to start throttling
to get more money. there needs to be more competition with ISP's, wish Google would hurry up with their fiber roll out.

  12. They have a ship, and possibly an island. Lets see what they do for the Internet (besides the obvious things).
