Needing Xbox LIVE Players For Research

Hello all! My name is David Kemp, I am currently a student at Texas A&M University Commerce (TAMUC). I am conducting an ethnography where I will attempting to find literacies involved in video games and being a gamer.

It would be absolutely awesome if as many people as possible could participate in my research, because by the end of the semester it will be officially published and could potentially gain national recognition. I am a gamer myself, have been since I was
5 years old in 2000, so this is not some weird gamer-to-science person kind of research lol. It is simply looking for the motivations and literacies involved in gaming and being a good gamer; and for scholarly work one needs as many participants as possible!

I would simply like to ask you various questions and record your responses. Playing with you would also be awesome! I like to play Battlefield 4, Halo 5, Evolve, Halo MCC, Dragon Ball: Xenoverse, Halo Wars, and Minecraft (for multiplayer purposes,
just look at my profile for all the games I play!). My gamertag is , please hit me up if you're interested! (Just make sure to send me a message first or else I'll ignore you XP). While playing with you I will be recording your actions and experiences,
and anyone else's, that happen in the game. Not everything may make it into the final project, that is mostly determinate upon the number of participants.

Below is the informed consent form that is necessary in ethnographic research, as it allows you to understand what is going on in the research and/or any benefits and negatives. You do not need to sign it, just read over it. If you decide to participate

Description, Purpose and Length of Research

My research is the observation, study of, and identification of the literacies in and associated with video games and gamers. The purpose of my research is to find the literacies involved in everything video games. This is a semester long study where
I will be listening to, reading, watching, interviewing, and playing with gamers of all adult types.

Risks and Discomforts of Research

The only greater than minimal risk that you might expect if you take part in this research is the possibility of the loss of your confidentiality of the information that you give out. Precautions will be taken against this risk
by the removal of all personal information you give out such as your name, age, job, gender, and/or hobbies.

Benefits

There are no direct benefits from taking part in this study. However, this research may help people understand the unique and differing skill sets and knowledge that video games and gamers possess. This research can also potentially show that distinctions
between gamers and other associated cultures such as Geek and Nerd and show that video games are in fact a work of art.

Protection of Privacy and Confidentiality

Your privacy will be protected and your responses and/or information will be kept in confidence through the removal of all identifiers in the research. Such as your name, age, job, gender, and/or hobbies you disclosed.

Choosing to Be in the Study

You do not have to be in this study. Participation is purely done voluntary. You may choose not to take part in this study and you may choose to stop taking part in this study at any time you like without any repercussions or negative reactions.
