Yes, you can absolutely remove your devices from your Microsoft account at any time, and it is so easy to do. please follow my detailed instructions below:

please go to your Microsoft account at https://account.microsoft.com

please login to the Microsoft account that is on this device, and continue to the page named "devices"

Then once your there, click on the device you wish to remove, and then click remove device.

this should remove this device from this account and your information should be safe!

I apologize but there is no option for us to remotely remove the account but you and your friend can definitely change the password or setup a two-step verification as an additional security.

There is not a way to remove an account remotely from a console. If you do not have access to the physical console, you will need to change the password on your account. The password will need to be entered the next time it is accessed on the console.

I’m sorry to say, but both of the previous responses are totally incorrect. There is no way to remotely sign out or remove your profile from a console you don’t have physical access to. That said, if you want to prevent your profile from being used on a
console you no longer have access to, all you need to do is change the password of the Microsoft Account that is associated with your Gamertag. More info at the links below :

in order to play digital games you would need to have the account associated with the games that were purchased and you were trying to play. You can play them while disconnected from the internet but you do need to have said account set as your
home Xbox in the personalization settings.

Alternatively you can play physical games without being online.

If you need to remove an account, it is possible by going into settings > account > remove accounts.

Unfortunately the Microsoft account the digital game was purchased under needs to be linked to the system in order to play the game you purchased. As long as that account is set as the home Xbox via settings > Personalization > my home Xbox then you can
play the game with any other Microsoft account attached to the system.
