Need to change Xbox Live Adult account to Child account (Family Settings)

I don't know how I've cocked this up but I added 3 children to 'my family' on the Xbox One, 2 are showing as child accounts and I can control what they can and can't do, the 3rd account seems to think it belong to an adult and I have no control over it.

How can I revert the account back to a child account that I have control over? I've seen loads of threads on child to adult but not adult to child.

How to use Kinect Share

Kinect sharing allows you to share your photos and videos with others. Some Kinect games can take photos and videos of you and your friends at the time of playing. You can easily upload these photos and videos to websites and services such as KinectShare.com. You can download your files any time. You can also share the photos and videos with your friends and family on social networking sites like Facebook.

You have to sign into Xbox LIVE to upload your photos and videos to KinectShare.com or similar websites. The Kinect Sharing setting must be “Allowed”.

To change your Kinect Sharing setting, follow the steps bellow:

First, you need to turn on your console and sign in using your Xbox LIVE gamertag.

Go to Settings to select Privacy.

Press Change Settings.

Select Customize.

Proceed to Kinect Sharing.

Select Allowed or Blocked.

Allowed: If the setting is “Allowed”, you can upload and share photos and videos to websites and services such as KinectShare.com.

Blocked: If the setting is “Blocked”, you won’t be able to upload your files on websites and services.

Note: The default settings is “Allowed” for adult and teen Xbox Live accounts, and “Blocked” for Xbox LIVE child accounts.

Press B on your controller.

Finally, press Save and Exit to save your settings.

You need to complete these steps for each person in your family. To change the setting on a child account, you’ll be asked to enter the Microsoft account (email address and password) of the associated adult account.

depends on the birthday of the accounts..if its an adult account it cannot be changed

Hi, the 'Microsoft account' was set to 1981 for some reason, I've changed this to 2001. Is there something else I'm missing? Thanks.

That's what I've found, I've spoken to support and they told me they'd changed it but it's still the same.

You should be able to make those changes by logging in with that Gamertag and going to the Privacy and online safety settings.

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. Unfortunately it is not possible to force a child account to become an adult account on Xbox Live. Changing the Microsoft Account profile age will not change the account and give adult permissions to the child account.
An adult account would need to be set up separately by the parent and add the child account to a Microsoft Family group and then manage the child account while logged into the parent account to allow adult permissions on a child account. A child account cannot
make any Xbox Live privacy settings without an adult account. If you already have an adult account, sign into
family.microsoft.com. For further instructions on how to set up a family group and then manage the child account's privacy settings, please read the following support articles:

Xbox One online safety and privacy settings for parents and kids

Family.

You can't exactly change a child account to an adult account until the child has actually turned 18. However, you can change their permissions. You need to log into the adult account, and under family settings, you can change the permissions of your child's
account.

Being the organizer of a Microsoft family doesn't change the child status of the account, the family organizer needs to be an adult account the child account must be added as a child account thst will allow the adult account to manage this settings

Hi Angela,

So to clarify do you have an adult account in the Family that you manage or do you only have child accounts that you manage?

You need to have an adult account to be able to change any privacy settings on a child account in the same family.

If the website is giving you trouble then I suggest trying to update the settings on the Xbox. Sign into the adult account and then go to Settings>Account>Family and then choose the account you want to manage.

Let us know if there are still issues trying to manage the child accounts.
