Need to change GamerTag

I have been a Xbox Live member for around 10 years, I made my account when very young before I knew the problems with giving out my real life information.

My gamertag contains my real name and zipcode, certain people "modders" hackers have used this information to find me on facebook and causing problems for me outside of the game.

I found assistance on your website on how to change gamer tags but you guys are trying to charge me to change this.

I understand microsoft is a business and needs to make money, but the reason for my name change is not for personal preference it has to do with the security of my identity.

is there a way to get a one time courtesy to resolve this issue?

its not a violation of the code of conduct to have your name it is just not recommended to have your name in a tag that is all. but the other user is correct if you want a new name you will have to pay for it sorry, no free name changes.

My gamertag i am trying to change it,i don't know who to talk to but it really violates the code of conduct,I didnt know my nephew didnt want the name.I heard you guys have helped before so i was wondering if you could help me and the live supporter

No. If you want to change your gametag you will have to pay like everyone else.

While having personal information in your tag is not recommended, it also does not violate the code of conduct. So yeah, you would have to pay to change it.

Right, I get that that's what you're saying, but I'm saying this is not possible, and that if you want a change you will need to, as everyone else does, pay the fee.

However, in the meantime, you should definitely block communications with anyone sending you such messages and use the built-in tools to report them for these (avoid, file player reviews). Do not engage them further.

The only way to change your Gamertag is to pay the fee for doing so.

The only 'free' change is if your Gamertag is offensive and the Enforcement Team takes action, but then you will be assigned a random Gamertag and have no control over what it is and if you want your own you still need to pay the fee for doing so.

Sorry, but no one here can give you a name change. The only way Microsoft will give a name change is if your name violates the code of conduct. You would have to have someone file a complaint on your account and if the enforcement team decides it does violate
the code, then they would issue a forced name change.

You're going to have to wait until you can pay for a change.
