There is no way of adding a set amount to the balance of an account. The amount usually start at 5 then 10, 20, 25, 40 etc.

Personally I actually think it's a pretty good idea, now you use a currency you understand and that directly translates to cost, rather than paying money to buy points to buy a game.

Essentially it's cutting out the middle part - you pay money to buy a game, no need for the "points in the middle."

To add to what was said above, with the Xbox One you only need 1 Gold account per console, rather than 1 Gold account for every gamertag that wants to play online on that machine (which is how it was on the 360).

So you'd rather spend a ton of money on a new PS3 (even with the money from the xbox you'll be spending more) rather than paying to get your xbox fixed? yea, that makes total sense
